I stopped updating when Firefox disabled all add-ons that weren't signed... all those same ones I've been using for donkeys years.

It's not beta... It's Extended Support Release... It's stable. And the latest ESR version for unsigned addons...

On their official website it's 45.4.0esr.

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/

ESR 45.5.0 is official and final! Only the website updates are always slower, that comes a bit later.

Here you have all languages etc: https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/firefox/releases/45.5.0esr/

Great! It is possible than the optimisation of the v50 is really better than the v49. Its me or it a big difference ?

Thanks for that!

i used ESR 45 before, and the biggest difference so far is that it uses much more RAM. Not right after launching, but after some hours in use, the RAM consumption goes up. afger a few hours i get sometimes between 1.5 and 2.0 GB RAM usage (private bytes).

might be some addon, but i don't have this with FF v45 and the same profile.

There's also the previous version (49.0.3 which has been published here). Take a look on the Mozilla FTP (in the futur) and I believe a new version might be published soon...

ESR 45 has some functionality broke it only gets security updates so  v50 is better or stay with v42 or older  On windows I have Firefox 50 and Cyberfox 42 On Linux I mostly only use new  Firefox  it seems to be much speed improvement over old versions .

Hmmm... Which functionalities are broke exactly? I have so far zero problems with ESR 45 and use a lot addons too.

LOL  , try installing  RAS Version 0.9.5.5 some of spoofing don't works in 45 and started back working in newer versions . New version of  RAS they removed these settings because they thought is was broke but its no longer broke

Firefox 50 with RAS 0.9.5.5

Firefox 45 ESR with RAS 0.9.5.5

Only way to achieve 100%  on that test without ras or with Firefox 45 is to change you're system time to you're VPN  or use IPs that's the same as you're system time. in Chorme there's no way to pass that test without changing you're system time or using ips the same as you're system time..  :)

https://www.reddit.com/r/webdev/comments/2zu0xg/spoof_timezone_in_chrome/

Java Script can read you're system  time so if you're on a site were you must have java script they can tell what time zone you're in  if  they check  if you don't do something too make it match up if you use a vpn ip out of you're time zone. :P

Can anyone confirm this using the latest ESR..? :ermm:

BTW.. What exactly version of ESR that you've use?

P.S. I saw some blogs.. they tackle the differences between the ESR and the standard version of firefox, and the majority says ESR is much more stable interms of bugs and performance.

"ESR is dull stability at the expense of new features. The release version is also usually stable but can cause occasional problems due to something strange in your profile. With ESR you know that your system is likely to work for the lifetime of the release. With the current release you might have a problem from time to time."

Maybe you're right in that point that your current profile might be the cause of that problem.

I used 38 ESR  to escape many of the changes they done in v43  onward ..Its pointless  to use Firefox 45 ESR  it will be replaced in 2 more versions with Firefox 52  tell  they break  addons  with e10s  there will be no need for ESR  really.   One  of the changes  was fixed with CTR addon the other  was and issue Mozilla has was fixed  after Firefox 45 came out   .  v45  have more privacy leaks  than v50 do .So there no way I would use Firefox 45

Firefox 50 arrives with faster startup, download protection for more file types, and new keyboard shortcuts

http://venturebeat.com/2016/11/15/firefox-50-arrives-with-faster-startup-download-protection-for-more-file-types-and-new-keyboard-shortcuts/

faster startup alone is a good enough reason to use Firefox 50.

I have some issue on v49.0.2 related to pop-up ads. I didn't notice this kind of problem when at v46 with same profile.

There's no reason to go back on v46. That's why I'm planning test the latest version of ESR to get rid of this ads and also to test it's performance.
