Best Win Media Alternative

As always I disable WMP after a fresh install and usually use VLC Port as a replacement but am wondering if there any better options with more codecs I can actually trust and install opposed to portable with regular updates and will play all online media.

Hi, if I were you I would try one of those:

-        Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC) @ https://mpc-hc.org/downloads/ - there is a portable version;

-        or K-Lite Codec Pack 12.5.0 (MEGA) @ https://www.nsanedown.com/?request=479952 it installs the MPC-HC

There isn't such thing as best Win Media alternative. Just anything else except damn & buggy Windows Media Player is always best.

I personally use Potplayer and VLC (both portable versions).

 

I don't like codec installation in my system. However, if u don't have any problem with this, u can try K-Lite Codec Pack which is has almost all codecs & is safe & clean (non-bloated).

 

About online media: I only play Youtube videos with potplayer.using "open with" extension for firefox. Don't know about other videos streaming sites.

K-Lite Codec pack is great, but please select "advanced" or "expert" during installation, so you can opt-out of the bundled software. Otherwise it silently installs with no notification.
