Togijak
There is a python script and the syntax makes it necessary to write the filenames like 0001.jpg 0002.jpg 0003.jpg etc.. There is no option to say use file from 0001.jpg to 1013.jpg but I am to lazy to write on this way 1013 filenames by hand Any Idea / tool?

When the photos are in the order you prefer...select all and right click the first photo...from the menu...select...rename... Type a name for the group - space - (10001).jpg group name (10001).jpg Press...Enter... Windows should rename the remaining files as follows: group name (10001).jpg group name (10002).jpg group name (10003).jpg OR You can read this and see if this software and settings will help - 66 Ways to Rename Files http://www.mind-pioneer.com/replace/batch_file_rename_ways.html OR My favorite, Bulk Rename Utility. http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Download.php
46&2
software to build a filename list This is what I use, http://www.mitec.cz/dirlist.html adjust a few settings and this will do nicely for you. This application allows to browse all connected disks like explorer and select folders and files for listing. Files can be listed by content too. Result listing can be saved to CSV file or as HTML with defined layout with preview. or as @straycat19 mentioned Bulk rename Utility is very good for renaming a list of files. :coolwink: @OP your Topic title and what you say you want the software to do is not the same thing. DirList will do excellent for both Listing and Renaming, but is primarily intended to build a file list. For Renaming BRU would be IMO best. good luck
VileTouch
it seems you don't know about FileMenu Tools (shocking!) file rename is just one of it's many features. make sure you run the installer with the /nocandy argument

Togijak
That's what I wanted and I don't need a tool, I need a new / better working brain I had everything needed. File rename was already don using TC = First needed step = build the file list (using Printfolder Pro), copy the result into an editor and replace ^p with space. I think there is no tool that can do all steps at once = maybe a good time to learn python (I need it for noteshrink) and it should be possible to writhe a script that can do it in one step.
