This week some of my files on pc has started to show an error:  FileName.pst file could not be opened. I thought it was connected with viruses or something else, I checked my pc on viruses and hdd on integrity, but error didn't leave. I need to fix pst file, I hope someone suggest something effective, thanks in advance.

Copy files to a folder or backup and delete files restart program.

I can't say it'll work but yesterday I was having problems with .ost files, I used the same method and starting outlook created new files and nothing was missing/deleted.

never go over 1.8 gb for youre pst file.pst office 2007  does not support pst files over 2 gb

so better make a new pst file (with outlook 2007) then that you go over it !

i hope i spell it right (dutch speaking from Belgium)

Archive your email, preferably by year.  This creates a separate pst file that should be small enough to load.  You can then load each year as a separate folder.

Scanpst at a minimum (along with reducing the size):

Note that you can also "compact" the PST, which is something to do periodically even when things are working normally. It's particularly useful after you've cleaned it up by deleting messages. If you've never done it, don't be surprised to see the size drop in half.

Usually when you don't have variants to get back .pst file...many people use scanpst, it is like add-on for unexpected situations with outlook data.

But sometimes neither scanpst nor other solutions can't be effective, that's why there is a niche of special tools, one of them Recovery Toolbox for Outlook, its demo on https://fixpstfile.recoverytoolbox.com/ was especially created for situations with lack of solving methods.

Some my friends applied its full version, it showed itself quite good, 9 or 10 severe corrupted files were restored.

we save calendar as a separate .PST file

and contacts as separate .PST, .CSV, .MDB & .XLS

along with an overall "Personal Folders" .PST

that way we have access specifically to the contacts & calendar to import to other machines/programs without having them locked into that whole big Outlook.pst file.
