Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool 4.02

jalaffa

Recommended Posts

This new tool allows an easy and comfortable way to download genuine Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, as well as Office 2007, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2016 disk images (ISO) directly from Microsoft's servers. Ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows disk images from Digital River, hunting for untouched ISO files has been a pain. Our new tool will make your life easier, and provides and interface to Microsoft TechBench to download original Windows and Office images directly from Microsoft's server.

Thanks to ARMOUR for the update.

Anyone else get an "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application" error when trying to run this?  Had the same thing with a few different versions. The error pop up gives you the option to ignore the error and continue, but if I continue all that happens is  the software crashes. Nice idea, hope to get it working at some point. Thanks for sharing it jalaffa!

Glad to see I'm not the only one.

I don't think it has to do with location. I'm in the U.S., so that's not it.. When I get home I'll check on the net framework requirement that DKT27 linked over to above.  Maybe it has something to do with that. I noticed on their site they also say you might have some problem if you're using a host file for blocking. Maybe an entry in the MVP hosts file blocking some necessary connection??  I don't know, I'm lost on this one. Need to work on it more.

Check the file dates in the ISO

Likewise I could do with a Win7 Pro for my lappy - The supplied Disc if a re-install is required is Win8.1 - yuk

Still, I do take Images frequently so I always have back-ups for all systems I run .

Thought I'd post for the others that were also having problems getting this working, seems like DKT27 was correct, (at least on my machine) about checking the requirements. Turned out my version of  Microsoft .NET Framework wasn't recent enough for the download tool.  If you need an updated version (must be at least 4.6.1) you can get the most recent here on the MS site:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=53344

To check your version of .NET Framework open regedit. Go to  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP.  Under "NDP" you should see a list of the versions of NET Framework installed on your machine.

Hope that helps, and thanks again to DKT27 for pointing the way.

I'm unsure, but if you're comment is directed at me and the instructions I left for how to check on your installed versions of .NET Framework, what I posted is the standard way of checking. Perhaps you think you have 4.6 installed but don't? .NET Framework doesn't show up in Add/Remove programs, so looking at the list in the registry is pretty much the way to go.  In either case, you mention having 4.6 on your machine but the requirements listed for this downloader are 4.61, so maybe that's what's going on with you.

Hope that helps.

Just for the hell of it I tried to install version 462..Says I already have that so the registry does not reflect this.

Well my friend, don't know what to tell you, Microsoft says that's how you determine the version. It changes a bit if you're looking to see if its 4.5 through 4.61, but it's still that section of the registry that would give you the info.

Anyway, I'm just trying to help you so don't argue with me, argue with Microsoft ("How to: Determine Which .NET Framework Versions Are Installed") :
