funkyy
I installed it from several of the links posted, I even installed the portable version...but when I click to run the program I get the error message below. I had the previous version of google Earth installed and working fine. I uninstalled it before installing the new version. (Win XP). I tried rebooting and fresh installing, but still the same result. Google Earth has a trouble shooting page, hopefully it helps you: https://support.google.com/earth/answer/176180?hl=en&ref_topic=2376770
jvidal
XP is probably not supported anymore. For god's sake, update to a decent OS!!!! At least win7.

funkyy
@flash48 I tried the troubleshooting page as you suggested and followed some of the suggestions..but I still get the same error message. I'll leave it for now, but thanks for the idea. @jvidal Win XP is supported, and my previous version worked fine.
jvidal
if the previous version worked, that does not mean the new one will. maybe 7.1.5 was the last version with xp support. Either xp is not supported anymore or your kernel32.dll is corrupted or replaced by a wrong version. are you running one of those hacked xp versions, like UE or colossus or similar??? have you installed a theme patch or installed a conversion to make it look like win7 or vista or whatever? do you have sp3 installed???? Edit: I did your homework for you and as it turns out, the procedure GetNamedPipeClientProcessId is NOT SUPPORTED on XP (it is NOT present on kernel32.dll on xp)

I did visit the Google help page by the way and it said XP was supported by Google Earth and it made no mention of the new version not being supported..hence my confusion. I'll just find my copy of the previous version and re-install that. Every day's a school day.
jvidal
Well, you asked a question and I answered. You should've done a little digging yourself to find what the problem was.
