OpenSSL 1.1.0 Is Out

 

A new release of the OpenSSL encryption library is out.

 

Among the three dozen major changes in the OpenSSL 1.1.0 release are a new Threading API, the removal by default of the Heartbeat extension, and IPv6 support for BIO networking.

OpenSSL 1.1.0 is a major refactor: IPv6, EVP, Bignum, core structs, state machine, negotiation. Adds CCM, OCB, ChaCha/Poly, scrypt, BLAKE2.

The update also removes a number of older components from OpenSSL.
