nsan3
Hi All. As the heading clearly explains, neither the "Add/Remove programs" nor Norton's Removal Tool is completely removing the previous installation's entries. Hence even after re-installing Norton, the old subscription details such as Norton Account's email and the remaining Subscription days are all coming back. Please can someone help me in how to COMPLETELY REMOVE NORTON WITHOUT LEAVING A TRACE on the computer. Thank you all.
vissha
Hi, Welcome to nsaner's group. Here's your help: After using Norton Removal Tool, you have to use 3rd-party tools like Revo Uninstaller(you can find it in nsane.down-frontpage)/any other alternate good uninstallers to remove most of its traces completely using advanced configuration setting. Only then you'll have a fresh install of Norton/AVG or any other complicated application. Another simpler way is to follow the steps(choose the version to get the list of things to search & delete) here to delete registry entries and files: http://www.advanceduninstaller.com/Norton-360-55b5c19fbc1aa24963dc540dd0fab734-application.htm 9 minutes ago, nsan3 said: So are the above 2 steps enough to remove all Norton traces from the computer (Win 7 64bit) ? @nsan3I don't think so. Norton is similar to AVG in keeping more traces. It is better to run uninstaller tool to delete unwanted traces and logs which won't get deleted after re-install. Supremo Phantom
ideally, if you uninstall norton using revo or total uninstall, it should remove all remains of the installation. after a reboot, run norton removal tool to clear out any other traces. then after installing the trial version, login with a "FRESH" account and new subscription no, otherwise if you login with your old email address which already has an active subscription, it will bring back previous subscription details on reactivation. Supremo Phantom
you should use a fresh email address, one you have not used before, or one on which the serial no has fully expired. only then it would accept a new serial no with validity period as available on the new serial. if you use a previously used email address, it will take you to your existing account with the existing serial which has days remaining, and attached that serial to this installation instance. i hope you can relate to what I am saying .. otherwise PM me, and will take it up offline.
