SnakeMasteR
Weird that upgrade and update notice would be the same. Is it?

mclaren85
Or you can simply uninstall it. Try Webroot. You will be amazed. https://www.webroot.com/us/en/

It is unticked by default. The software is ignoring this setting.

LBL
http://www.sordum.org/8125/firewall-app-blocker-fab-v1-4/ It seems to work for me. Look for the x86 folder and the UPGRADE.exe and block it with this program. I couldn't rename it or delete it but with this program I could block it from from the firewall. mikepool
Boot to safe mode and rename UPGRADE.exe to something like UPGRADE.exe.old Path to file on 64bit Windows: C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security\x86\ I did this over a week ago and I haven't encountered any issues or that annoying pop-up. Not sure. I hadn't knew that it had problems with Win8. Because I'm using Win7 64.
