Please help!
How can I install Widevine media optimizer plugin on Firefox 48?
After the update to v48, from V47, this plugin I was disabled.
I can not install it!

Thanks a lot!

Can You say, wha't the reason. Not compatible with this version? Or something else.

Enable unsigned extensions in Firefox 48.0

Tested on a win 10 x64 with firefox 32 bits, but doesn't seem working .... except if I put files in a wrong place.

Could you give some explanation on where to put these files ?

Reason seems to be here. Latest version seems to be 6.0.0.12442 and it is maximum for Firefox version 19.* enabled.
So I cannot understand, how it is possible, that worked in Firefox 47.01.
Here is it the install.rtf file content

<RDF xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#" xmlns:em="http://www.mozilla.org/2004/em-rdf#">

    <em:id>{2d3fbcf7-be69-4433-8858-c621a8d0e58d}</em:id>
    <em:version>6.0.0.12442</em:version>

    <em:targetApplication>

        <em:id>{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}</em:id>
        <em:minVersion>1.5</em:minVersion>
        <em:maxVersion>19.*</em:maxVersion>

    </em:targetApplication>

    <em:name>Widevine Media Optimizer</em:name>
    <em:creator>WMK</em:creator>
    <em:description>Widevine Media Optimizer</em:description>

    <em:updateURL>https://tools.google.com/service/update2/ff?guid=%ITEM_ID%&version=%ITEM_VERSION%&application=%APP_ID%&appversion=%APP_VERSION%&os=%APP_OS%</em:updateURL>
    <em:iconURL>chrome://idm/content/icons/icon_32x32.png</em:iconURL>
    <em:unpack>true</em:unpack>

</RDF>

This can work (but I doubt), if you are using Firefox 19 or older and install then. Then open the extensions folder and change in the file install.rtf max version from 19* to 49.*
But I highly doubt, that will work with Firefox 48, so you have to watch these videos, using an old Firefox.
PS, of course, you should disable the signature verification, as I said above.

Add-on signing enforcement

add-on-could-not-be-installed.png

Firefox Stable and Beta users may no longer disable add-on signing in their versions of the browser. This blocks them from installing unsigned add-ons in Firefox. Unsigned add-ons are all add-ons that have not been submitted to Mozilla for signing.

Firefox displays "This add-on could not be installed because it has not been verified" when you try to install an unsigned add-on in Stable or Beta versions of the browser.

This means that it is no longer possible to install add-ons from third-party sources in Firefox, or old add-ons, if they have not been signed.

There is no way around this other than switching to another Firefox channel that still offers a switch to turn the functionality off.

Firefox Developer, Nightly, ESR and unbranded builds fall in that category.

if Mozilla Firefox 48.0 that will refuse to work with unsigned plugins, I guess this will be the first time I don't upgrade to the stable channel..

A lot of the plugins I use are stilled unsigned

I am happy to read this about unsigned plugins b4 i updated my FF, so what about Extensions in FF?

Are you saying that you hear for the first time, that there are extensions and plugins? Is it really possible not to know?

Yes ! that's what I did but unfortunatly it doesn't work for me :(

The addon is AutoCopy2, which stays unsigned despite many asking to the developper.
