To Nsane Members: Instead for the edit/trouble with frontpage d/w links, you can visit the original thread mentioned in this comment for all OS links.

@jalaffa: Pls fix the d/w links in nsanedown ASAP.

Not all users visit the forum. Some only visit the frontpage

so not changing the frontpage links isn't the brightest idea.

When I first discovered Nsane, I only went to NsaneDown.com

and never thought to visit the forum til a couple years later.

Spoiler

Add-on signing enforcement

add-on-could-not-be-installed.png

Firefox Stable and Beta users may no longer disable add-on signing in their versions of the browser. This blocks them from installing unsigned add-ons in Firefox. Unsigned add-ons are all add-ons that have not been submitted to Mozilla for signing.

Firefox displays "This add-on could not be installed because it has not been verified" when you try to install an unsigned add-on in Stable or Beta versions of the browser.

This means that it is no longer possible to install add-ons from third-party sources in Firefox, or old add-ons, if they have not been signed.

There is no way around this other than switching to another Firefox channel that still offers a switch to turn the functionality off.

Firefox Developer, Nightly, ESR and unbranded builds fall in that category.

if Mozilla Firefox 48.0 that will refuse to work with unsigned plugins, I guess this will be the first time I don't upgrade to the stable channel..

A lot of the plugins I use are stilled unsigned

Does this method does not work anymore?

Add this line in user.js file (this file is in user profile folder)

user_pref("xpinstall.signatures.required", false);

NB! Close Firefox Before opening the file.

or other method:

  1. Open Firefox
  2. type on URL area about:config
  3. type in search box xpinstall.signatures.required
  4. change value true to false
  5. restart firefox

NOPE those fixes don't work anymore with Version 48, since the programmers have removed xpinstall.signatures.required flag permanently in the stable version..

The only way you can make the unsigned plugins work is with the "unbranded" or the ones used by developers for testing

Guys, use the ESR channel it's still on v45.3.0. It's very stable and unsigned plugins still work.

These builds do not use Firefox branding, do not update automatically, and are available for the en-US locale only.

i think they'll update normally.why usay they wont update auto?also it is very easy to change the locale lang by adding the corresponding lang.xpi. see for e.g.

An signed update is required from the plugin provider for addon/plugin compatibility. There is no override option from this version to install unsigned addons/plugins. Hence, request the plugin developer for a signed update through forum/email mentioned in product site.

Meanwhile, if you still want to install, then you should try the Unbranded Firefox installations. Read more here.

This is already answered here and also in above comments.
