Please do not turn this into a firefox/ opera/ chrome fanboy thread.

Lets just have a nice discussion about things you would like changed in your favourite web browser. Things like UI, features and security are all relevent.

Do let us all know.

we can't change browsers because the browsers are the ones who change the market.most browsers are cool and they are copying each others work now.browser wars are over anyway.

At the moment I am using chromium and I like it allot.

Although some people are making plugins for it, I still miss some things. There still is no session manager windows and the linux version is missing allot.

Last time I checked you even couldn't print pages directly from the browser.

So I think there is allot of work to do, but if chrome/chromium stays this light and fast I will keep using it.

Firefox 3.6a

As always... faster. The I would also like it if it grabed onto my connection. I use wireless and the connection drops several times a day. ;(

I also wish the extensions were universal. That way when I use an alpha build, I dont have to worry about only half my extensions working.

Chrome and Firefox should support every website. Chome should not get slow when flash or JavaScript is active. And chrome should have more plugins and all should not be in beta.

@ DKT27

Chrome is out of beta! It has been for a few months now.

I would change the UI of Firefox, it is soooo Windows XP. I hate to wait until mid-2010 for the Firefox 3.7. :frusty:

IE8 serves its purpose for me. They tried to add aesthetics by using colored tabs but it really didn't help. I like it for the most part, it does lag sometimes. Speed could be improved along with more customization tools.

Chrome needs more skins. There aren't a lot of designers for them, I wish there were more. Also, toolbars should be added to it. As far as security goes, it's decent. I like the 'incognito' feature it has. That way I can do all my dirty deeds with no footprints :sneaky:

@ Demonon

In chrome you can print, it's in the 'control the current page' button. Or just press ctrl+p like normal :P

@ DKT

Chrome doesn't slow down for me when it has Flash or Java open. & Chrome hasn't been in beta for a loong while now. I guess since you only see the v3 Dev updates you think it's still in beta. True, but v2.0.172.37 is the latest final/stable version. Developmental tests are done at the users discretion.

Firefox: This is the main browser that I use. When talking about the programs in their natural un-hacked state I would say that...

I could find a few issues with Tab handling.

Truly disabling/enabling the FIPS encryption engine.

I don't like the fact that Super Cookies are not included in clearing your personal data.

I also could say that I have an issue with the resource usage when it comes to some scripts, and flash objects, however this problem sometimes can come from the way these objects and scripts are written ( and their age ) so this problem cannot always be attributed to the browser itself, nor the plug-ins used..

Was not really happy with the change in how the Private Data is handled now...Maybe something I just need to grasp..

There was vulnerability with the browser being able to have a buffer under-run or something..and crash. Don't like that idea.

I have used the browser since version 1.0.7, so I would also say that its developmental changes are excellent, and the technologies included enable a wide range of extensibility and alterations. This I would never change.

No more having to type WWW in the address bar. And maybe not having to type the dot com, biz, org, gov at the end if possible. If a web site has more than a dot com then a browser should allow users to make a selection whether it be dot com or dot org or biz or gov.

added: So, did I win any thing.

If you type for instance Yahoo it should automatically go to www.yahoo.com, for anything you type it should first try www.whatyoutype.com and then present you with Google search.

You all are lazy :P

Laziness is what drives invention ;) At least, it is now(what drives invention used to be the fight for survival, but that doesn't apply anymore, does it :P)

@box. What about Ctrl + Enter? :)

I think what box is referring to is IE's inability to act as FF does when entering a URL. If in IE you enter a URL without the http:// and the website ... then IE will say it that the page cannot be displayed... Like some of my domain names for instance, it won't go to the address, yet I add in the text and there we are. Then if you start using the option to auto complete URLs if puts http://, www and .com to anything you enter...Making the some entries invalid.. 'OTHER' browsers are not quite as specific OR the actually search your DNS server for a valid result taking you right there. If your going to an FTP:// then you should enter that in or it will automatically turn it into HTTP:// so technically the manner in which that was designed for some browsers.. For sites which use several different means FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, and so on big huge problem.. but really I feel IE could use some work in that area..( could also use some work with sites that require authentication as well.. you have to double-bang the refresh key to get it to load.. just noticing .. loading one server but they all do that.. )

I COULD be too assuming, but I think that is what is meant. Personally, I don't think that they need to give options to select one.. They should better enable the completion process. FF I am relatively happy with the way it works.. Out of all of the browsing I do I rarely run across an entry that works in the wrong way.. ( either that or I run into one of those ad sites that all look the same, use the sites name...and either have results posted to click that leads to other site like that one.. like they are doing marketing search or something...but are never the site and usually occurs if the site is no more, or you purposely type in the wrong.com,org.net, [ insert language ending here ].. thing )

If that is the point then chrome is the best in it. ;).

ANW I want to add some more. FF should show offline on the "top" when we are offline.

in firefox they should give an option to remove the MENU BAR.

IE 8 already has that option.

Me too, I want to see a more futuristic default theme on Firefox. I would also like to see it load faster, I find it takes a little long to load up for now so I just minimise it and never exit until I'm ready to shutdown.

IE8 loads fast enough on Win7, even opening new tabs does not lag as it did in Vista. I don't think I could attribute anything I don't like about IE8 now since it seems my problem was with Vista.

in firefox they should give an option to remove the MENU BAR.

IE 8 already has that option.

On mine it has that option, but I also am using an extension called 'Hide Menubar' which auto hides the bar...I do the same for the status bar too..

My option appears in two places.. when right clicking in the top 'BAR's ' area.. and when going to View > Toolbars...

Me too, I want to see a more futuristic default theme on Firefox. I would also like to see it load faster, I find it takes a little long to load up for now so I just minimise it and never exit until I'm ready to shutdown.

I use an extension called Mr. Tech Toolkit which allows me to install some things that I normally would not, I use Boss Key and it lets me minimize to try or hide everything all at once, it used to also limited memory usage for older versions of FF.

I usually have better luck once the browser loads up once on my system, and it would be a good idea to do a fresh start of the browser, and check the Error Console for any faulting extensions or problems. Some problems can be fixed easily, I forward those on when I can.. Some can't and I usually post about the bug to the author, and un-install.. There is also a file that you can manually clean for FF, that can help it load up faster.. ' prefs.js '. After a lot of use, and tested extensions, especially when trying experimental and betas.. I had a bunch of dead entries in this file.. I went through and removed everything that did not apply to my setup and it helped with a few odd errors I had and sped up my start time.. The file is located in your profile directory. I don't recommend to anyone to just go and start deleting and backspacing the entries out, make sure you know what you are doing. There was also mention in the Mozillazine I believe that cleaning out your temp files from your system, ( mainly from IE ) would speed it up some but supposedly they updated this problem.. worth a shot though..

EDIT: The next part is the Con to the Pro of having extensions.. finding the best ones out there, to have the least and most effective. ( and I still have 31 .. LOL )The more extension you have the longer it takes to check updates, the more that depend on online resources too, Like ForecastFox Enhanced.. I just want to rip it out sometimes... Huge resource usage on update and takes forever to load on program startup.. I have seen some that have overlapping extensions, and loads of junkware extensions, some that do things the program already does, or are completely useless...
