HandyPAF
I'm using Slimjet web browser (latest version 10.0.2.0) and I have two extensions installed. One is uBlock Origin and the other is Ghostery. I don't know what the issue is but the browser gives me this error in the Extensions page Can anyone tell me what the problem is or if this error is okay and I can ignore it. The two extensions appear to be working just fine, despite the error.
Recruit
How I see Ghostery made first the job which uBlock should have made it. At first view it is a conflict between the two extensions. Supposing that the job was made by Ghostery, I think that it can be ignored.

I don't know which function they are both trying to do. I wish I did so I could tell one of them to stop it
Petrovic
Uninstall Ghostery. It's completely redundant if you have uBlock Origin. https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/issues/1170 https://www.reddit.com/r/ublock/comments/3zjkos/ublock_and_ghostery_extension_error_in_chrome/

But I've been seeing ads lately that uBlock has failed to block and I haven't change any settings that would cause them to slip through. I made sure the filterlists were up-to-date and they are but some ads still show up. I was hoping that Ghostery might alleviate the issue. I even tried switching adblockers, tested out several others like Adblock, Adblock Plus, etc. but those same ads still show. When I add those ads to the blocklist manually, they no longer appear but the blocking also screws up the layout of the page and sometimes elements I want to show, they get blocked too. This adblocking business used to be a piece of cake but not anymore.
Petrovic
Alternatives? AdGuard, etc ScriptSafe( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/scriptsafe/oiigbmnaadbkfbmpbfijlflahbdbdgdf)
HandyPAF
I've always been hesitant to use ScriptSafe. I know it's an excellent extension but I feel like it would be a lot of work to configure it for each individual site. Is it pretty easy to setup or am I going to have to tweak it for every domain? dpg12
uBlock Origin has a feature where it can redirect certain JavaScript libraries used by sites with ones it distributes with itself that do nothing, as blocking, say, Google Analytics outright is known to break some sites. I don't know if there's a master switch that disables that functionality entirely, but you can find the lists (this would only be present in the ones that come with uBlock, I assume) that are doing it by searching for $script, redirect=. I know "uBlock filters – Privacy" does it. You may just get used to the error. I know I did (Web Boost has similar conflicts with uBlock) and even on a 1366x768 screen, I don't notice the hamburger icon lighting up anymore. I think the one advantage Ghostery has is that it can automatically set the opt-out cookies, but if uBlock is blocking the connections to those sites in the first place, then not having that functionality is not a huge loss IMO. HandyPAF
And now... for my final question. To anyone who uses a Chrome-based browser and uses extensions to block ads / prevent tracking / protect privacy What do you use? For example, you might say uBlock Origin + ScriptSafe or Adguard + Disconnect Since Ghostery was causing that error, I removed it from my browser. Now I am only left with uBlock Origin.
