Fame
Somebody help me get back my native screen resolution on HP monitor. My recommended screen resolution is 1440x900 but I can't set it anymore. My desktop was working fine until sometime ago but some days ago when I turned on my PC, it was taking very long to start and not moving further from the boot screen so I switched off directly and started again which worked but something happened to my screen resolution which was automatically set to a lower resolution. I tried to change the screen resolution back to 1440x900 but there is no option to set my native resolution back. All other resolutions are available but the I one I need is not. Please help. I am running Windows 7 on my PC. It's an old Compaq PC System Model FK804AA-ACJ SG3550IL. Help me please, the screen looks bad in all other resolutions. What do I do? You can not do it, because such a resolution does not exist. This is not a standard, or more correct to say - if somewhere is written such a resolution, it is false information. Kelju is wrong because I actually use this resolution on my Samsung Syncmaster .Probably somehow the driver of your monitor got deleted or corrupt. If you're sure you're running Nvidia graphics you could try getting newer drivers from here.

The problem is not the driver of the graphic card but the Monitor. See the picture of the chart with resolution options. It says: "Generic Non-PnP Monitor". It should specify "HP Pavilion w1707 Monitor". So the solution is unistall Generic Monitor at Control Panel and then reinstall specifying the HP Monitor with the proper HP driver. I had upgraded my graphics and RAM a couple of years ago because integrated intel graphics didn't support some games like Assassins creed, Mass Effect 3, Bioshock2 etc. I am using Nvidia Geforce 210. I have latest drivers, I tried un-installing and reinstalling the drivers from both HP and Nvidia but none helped. I have HP Pavilion w1707 LCD wide-screen flat panel monitor. Kalju
Standard ratio is 4:3 or 16:9, of course, there are few non-standard versions like 5:4 and 16:10. This is one of them, it means non-standard versions. macnavarra
Go to you´re Bios and load setup defaults save and exit if you didn´t already. if you have installed some pci card or cards it could be some IRQ conflict also. and use always Microsoft graphic drivers if present in windows install/update. Administrator DKT27 Posted May 30, 2016 Administrator Share Posted May 30, 2016 Did it happen after installing the latest nVidia drivers. It can be issue in it. You should try drivers from previous version. If it does not work try changing it from Nvidia Control Panel. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Display > Change Resolution. If even that does not have any option, in the same page, press Customize > make sure to enable Resolutions not exposed by Display > Cream Custom Resolution > Copy this > Press on Test > if it works press Yes > Select your custom resolution from the top of the list > Apply. See if that works for you.
