AIMP is a full-featured free music player designed with sound quality and wide, customizable functionality in mind. Over twenty audio formats are supported. This is one of the best music players you can find on the Internet. Audio is processed in 32-bit for crystal-clear sound. The player features a 18-band graphics equalizer with extra built-in sound effects. The existing functionality can be extended by adding Input, DSP and Gen plug-ins from Winamp. All local and global hotkeys are customizable. Full Unicode support. It is able to convert AudioCD to MP3, OGG, WAV or WMA. Similarly, AIMP can grab sound from any audio device on your PC to MP3, OGG, WAV or WMA formats.

Thanks to BLAite for the update.

Guys, do you know of a setting or plugin that will automatically remove tracks from the Playlist after they have been played?

An essential feature, in my opinion. MediaMonkey does it.

Just a long word to those who have been experiencing problems with the Analog Meters (and other settings problems with any version 4) not working since the previous release (v4.02 build 1713)... This is a known problem, or should I say "issue" with some.. Here's why it happened to me and how I fixed it - actually very easy. I'll explain (If you already know the fix, just ignore this post)...

I have been using the portable installation option, installing it to a USB stick, then simply copying the files into my default folder "C:\Program Files(x86)\AIMP\" ever since I started using AIMP, which was version 3.xxx something or other about 18 months or more ago,, and when version 4 came out last year, I just kept right on doing just that and also keeping all my settings in the default "C:\Program Files(x86)\AIMP\Profile\" folder,, a leftover from version 3 it turns out, but it worked all this time without a single problem. One thing I did notice was that version 4 was notably slower to load up on the first mp3 only, but I just accepted that as a going concern of AIMP4.. It still worked flawlessly but some settings were being dropped each time I copied over a newer release,, again, it was no big deal, easy to deal with...

Then came 4.02 build 1713 a few weeks ago and it copied over and fired up as per normal,, but the Analog Meters did not fire up, instead, just a blank space where they were, so I right clicked in it and saw that I now had a choice of 'Classic' and 'Night' Meters, so I chose the classic and it worked well, however each time I shut AIMP down and re-opened it,, no meters again - Hmmmmm...!!! I fixed this by copying over the previous build's Analog Meter file - 'aimp_AnalogMeter.dll' and replacing the newer one, which I backed up of course - oh the power of backups... That fixed the problem but now of course I only had the standard classic meters, no real matter, it works fine, and besides, I see others are also talking of this issue so AIMP will surely notice it and fix it in the next release.. Nope..!! Same thing with build 1717...!!! Now though, not even the older 'aimp_AnalogMeter.dll' file would fix it. Bummer, what's happening...???

Well, I downloaded two portable versions from above posts from BALTAGY and PortableAppz - SNF, (thanks guys..) and they both worked well in all respects,, so what the heck have I done..?? I looked inside the PortableAppZ release at the file structure and saw that it was basically identical to mine, except for two uninstall files and 'aimp.ini', and it had no \Profile\ folder. I then backed up my v4.02 build 1717 then deleted all the AIMP folders contents, and copied all of the internal PortableAppZ ( \App\aimp\.. ) files into the clean empty default AIMP C: Drive folder, along with some of my favourite skins and plugins and the modded Encoders.xml file with the lame mp3 encoders EXE and DLL for mp3 format conversions,, and decided to start from the beginning. I fired it up and changed a few settings - default skin,, colour,, Classic Analog Meter and a few actual settings to the way I like it etc, and away it went - as sweet as it gets. Through "Total Commander" file handler, I watched the default program folder to see of the 'Profile' folder would eventuate, but no go, so I closed AIMP down expecting the Profile folder to show up, but still no go.. Yet, when I restarted AIMP, all my settings and the Classic Meters were there and AIMP loaded up instantly - lightning fast from the SSD. Now that's how it should be... But how were all the settings being held if there was no Profile folder with all the settings and preferences files in it..??

Ok, truth or dare time...
I copied "my"  backed up 4.02 build 1717 files back over, ovewriting the PortableAppZ files, minus the Profile folder. I doubled clicked on AIMP.exe and got an error (for #^$k sakes what is going on..??) and AIMP did not start. Ahhh,, I deleted AIMP.ini (128 bytes) from the install folder and tried again - Yehah - Success, AND, all my settings are there, AND, Analog Meters are working...

OK answer time...

A quick search in Total Commander revealed all of the settings were in the folder - C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\AIMP\, where they had been ever since the first v4 I used on this PC, judging by the dates of some of the files,, and they must have been conflicting with the install program 'Profile' folder's settings, as some of the files were actually updating each time you use AIMP,, perhaps a remnant trait of a bygone v3 era... Now all settings and preferences are writing straight to the true folder - "C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\AIMP\", where they should be, and things a running very well, and fast too... I tested for half an hour or so then backed up EVERYTHING associated with this install of v4.02 build 1717.. From now on I can follow the new install protocol...

If anyone has similar experience, and has a Profile folder, delete it, but you may want to copy all the files into the correct settings folder first, but back the existing ones up first though and also delete AIMP.ini from the install folder if it exists.. Looking back now, all of a couple of hours ago, I could think of myself as a bit stupid for never having noticed this before, but it just goes to prove, most or even all software problems have a cure or fix, you just have to find or make it...

I hope it helps some of you...
