It is indeed. I am still learning how to make portables but that is where I post them. I also post them here when I can.

Hello @PocketAppZ

did you move your blog somewhere else? "Blog has been removed"

??

I took it down because I was finding my portables posted on other sites, and the person sharing it did not give me credit for my work, and one of the users was posting my work as their own. I could tell because I added a line in one of the files in my portables that says my username and their download had my username in it too.

I can understand your point of view .

Too bad, :( you had quite a few Interesting Stuff.
Even so, many similar sites have been removed and developers abandoned their development because of similar reasons.
It seems in the existing world that it is impossible to prevent this phenomenon, should probably somehow accept with it. The same token, software developers can claim that they will stop developing because people copy their software without a license and breaking them, there is no end in sight.

I understand the will to receive credit for everything you have worked on it, but unfortunately this is the reality, not all people are honest enough to not flaunt something they never bothered in it. There is another side to this situation, the making itself gives you experience and satisfaction and the knowledge that many people enjoy it and give positive feedback also is something that could give it value and compensate somewhat for the distress.

Hope that you would consider it again?

I've got a second site already ready to go but I have yet to post anything. At the moment, it isn't visible to anyone so you won't find it using Search.

I will bring it back but give me a month or so. I want to get stuff published on there, get categories worked out, that sort of stuff.

When I do open the blog, my portables will not contain the AppPortable.ini file. This way, no one can see the code. They will still be able to use my Launcher but won't be able to add a splash screen without having to compile the code and remake the Launcher themselves.

It doesn't eliminate the possibly of people stealing my work but it's something.

Good luck!

Take in mind that there may be difficulties for other reasons. I can give you countless similar blogs, that were closed due complaints about violations of rights in such cases Google does not wait and removes all blog content. Thus it is highly recommended have the option to backup and migration to an alternative site. In general, it is better to rely on a standard web site than to wait for the moment (which apparently will arrive sooner or later) that all your work will go down the drain. Even if you do use only free software license, the developer of "PortableApps" 'fight to the bitter end' developers competitors that make use of does not meet all the conditions of its development tools. Take for example the "PortableAppZ" developer which was one of the first who started to expand the range of portable applications using the PortableApps standard, he was dragged Into legal discussions, after removing his site, and he was forced to remove from all his distributions any components based on the "PortableApp" code. To this day all his stuff doesn't have the ".paf" extension any more.

It will happen sooner or later, just a matter of time. I have all my portables on my hard drive so even if my site gets taken down, I can re-upload them and post them on a new blog created from the backup of my current one.

I'm happy just sharing my portables on Nsane and not attempting to maintain my own site. We'll see what happens.
