I have joined you its a decent thread..And as @mona mentioned it has been buried we all use smileys and i for one Again would much rather get them from nsane than elsewhere so yeah all good..Nice one..

Thanks for the suggestion. We currently have 164 emoticons, with all of them being accessible through clicking the Emoticon button > Categories > Emoticons.

 

But, we can add a few. Not many, but few. We will look into it.

And what about pinning the thread ?  It's been deeply buried now.

It could serve as kinda EMO HUB - the place to share new emo finds and the ALTERNATIVE (not so) handy source of emos to be used  in posts (via image hosting).

I have moved it to The Chat Bar, but am considering pinning it. Meanwhile, if anyone posts on it, it will stay on the top of the page.

Posting icons one by one is extremely time consuming task. 

I did promised to @jordan4x  I would post my large icon library. But I'm hesitating for the reason.

I won't spend hours of my precious time for it, knowing that the topic is going to be quickly buried deep again.     

Others are not going to bother for the same reason probably.

No one likes his/her efforts being wasted when there is a simple solution the staff doesn't care of.

 

I hate to say it, but overwhelming impossibility all nSane members are facing on the forums lately is very upsetting and greatly discourages from taking any actions for the common community good. 

Instead it promotes selfish approach :  take what you need and kiss the forums good bye !

If your topic that perfectly fit in "Forum feedback section" got moved to completely insignificant part of the forums that "The Chat Barf" is - don't expect them to ever pin it.     They just got rid of the "problem" and that's it.

Using common sense : pinned  threads are those that stay VALID / IMPORTANT / USEFUL  for many members and for long time, REGARDLESS from if they have been continuously receiving  new input or not.  Pinning such topics is saving them from being buried and difficult to find.

 

Additional source of emoticons (aka "emoticon topic") needs to be kept HANDY, if  it's intended to be used by nSaners.

Although it perfectly meets all the requirements for being pinned - according to nSane staff - it's not worth it.

 

But in the same time they'd decided to pin this silly topic (I'm allowed to say that, since I started it), that never was expected to be anything more but 5 min. fun.

My jaw dropped when I saw it pinned.....   along with  that  and  that  other equally "valuable" and often outdated threads,..... while popular topics like  "Amazing Photo Of The Day", "[QOTD] Quote of Day" or even "Nsane cats/dogs" need to be dug up each time one wants to visit them.....  

 

But that's NSANE, and YOU (a member of this insane community) can't do anything about it.   Pity.

It doesn't matter that some of the problems got solved eventually... Reluctant approach    stays the same.

I do not understand the anger when the reasons are always understood. Like other threads already pinned there exists some reasons why threads are pinned, some are really useful, some are updated regularly. While I was considering the idea to pin it, it went off my radar for a while, which could have been fixed if someone posted something on it, but I did not get a single reply on it.

 

WALLONN7's thread fits perfectly here will remain here, your thread fitted better in The Chat Bar, hence it was moved there.

I have already mentioned the qualifications for the thread to be pinned in my this post above.

 

About this thread, I have never seen that thread myself. I might be a mistakenly pinned. We looking into it.

 

Now we are talking. You have a good list of pin able threads, we will look into it. However, I must mention there are better ways to do so. A simple PM or a request for staff to pin a list of thread would have been better. Even now we are open to suggestion and let us know if you find more pin able threads.

As for laid back approach, you need to understand the staff does a lots and lots of work behind the scenes, something that is not visible to the members. In all these works, things like checking pinned or pinning of threads may get sidelined - because other things might require more attention of the staff. Some things are fixed when fixes arrive. Some are fixed after the staff takes a decision on it.

 

Everything the staff does, it does for the betterment of the forums. Some things are done and some things take time, all have a reason behind them.

Personally, i totally forgot about it as i don't use emoticons much. (i just need a specific one for a specific situation occasionally)

 

About regular/pinned threads:

An "abandoned" thread simply need regular updates and participating members to rise again.

There are many topics which are visited and updated more than the pinned ones.

Before anything else, I would like to make a small correction... There's no anger, but frustration...

About the reasons of the topics being pinned, well, are acceptable... But your argument is lost when you try to justify not done clinging to the "Ah, but no one has posted on it, then..."

I believe my topic is in the correct place... But I have to fully disagree with the movement done with the @mona's... Chat Bar, in my opinion, as its own name says, is the place for trivial matters, which, by nature, are multiplying so rapidly that her topic disappears in minutes... Again, a misunderstanding...

Well, good to hear that. It's easier for Staff to do work if members behave in a good manner.

 

Read my post again, my argument was not about why no one posted, my argument was that it went off my radar as no one posted on it. While it stands with you guy's argument that it will not get noticed, what I'm trying to say is that a single post would have been enough there for the Staff to remember or even a polite reminder would be fine. What we got instead was questioning the decisions, ability, understanding and history of the Staff and the whole forum, which is not acceptable. It is also a reason I'm explaining my reasons behind my delays.

 

For us, all the forums are equal, whether The Chat Bar or the Site / Forum Feedback. That thread fits perfectly fine in The Chat Bar.
