LeeSmithG
Sup! A few weeks ago I found that Norton Live Update was corrupting somewhere down the line when downloading updates, to a point where my system would lag and hang and updates would not install. I blamed two other pieces of software, windows clean up, C:\Windows\System32\cleanmgr.exe, I was wrong, I also previously thought it was A.V.G. registry compactor, I was wrong too, so apologies for that. I have found the culprit, I am ninety nine point nine, nine, nine per cent (99.999) sure it is RollbackRx. Live update works fast and perfectly if I close both the process's connected with the software. When it's running, Norton Live Update, don' work right. Has anyone else found this to be true. Few years ago, or two (2) editions ago I found out it was (RollbackRx) causing a system crash, with just my screensaver showing and the system stuck, that has gone. I have also found it does not always record boot sector files, so when you reboot your system, it won't boot as the files are not there. Luckily for me I also use Norton Ghost fifteen (15) SP1. RollbackRx is good in it's intent, but seriously flawed, sometimes, trying to deliver what I or maybe we want.

LeeSmithG
Here is the reply for the ticket I submitted. Quote Thank you for submitting a ticket. My name is Samuel Smith and I'll be helping you address these issues. On the image restoration - yes, there are no other imaging solutions that can capture RollBack Rx's subsystem or snapshots other than our own program Drive Cloner Rx. This is the best program to use when paired with RollBack Rx, otherwise you will encounter the issues you've described. I recommend downloading and trying out the program which is free to use for 30 days: http://www.horizondatasys.com/files/Drive%20Cloner%20Rx/Downloads/DriveClonerRx_v6.exeAs for the last problem, unfortunately our program cannot understand and work with all of the different AV's and anti-malware programs out there. There are too many to specifically configure our software with. Rather, if you are finding certain Norton updates are not running properly that you may want to update the installation baseline of RollBack Rx after you run these updates to stick them, and not have any other snapshot hang onto previous configurations. Apologies on any frustrations you have faced, and have a great week!Samuel For the life of me I cannot understand why the program needs to bother itself with antivirus. LeeSmithG
I removed the Pro and have installed the Home Edition, seems to work better with Home Edition. Might be less functionality and if the Home Edition was around when I purchased the Pro edition, then I would not had purchased the Pro and use the Home Edition. khanyash
May be some compatibility issue between Norton products & Rollback Rx. A user on malwaretips uses Symantec Endpoint Unmanaged Client & uses reduced databases option instead of full databases. He mentioned sometimes when he restores system with Rollback, Symantec downloads & installs full databases.

As I wrote again, Home Edition works fine, so I will stick with home till Pro is sorted out.
LeeSmithG
Hello again. I think I might have found the real culprit, though problems I have in the past with RollBackRx I think still don't help. Crap Cleaner has another section for cleaning, named 'applications'. I found two instances of Norton checked, so I unchecked them, see image. I think I might have solved the problem. If not I will be back, hasta la vista baby! LeeSmithG
I've edited the winapp2 fie that give you applications to remove left overs from. I've removed all Norton references. If you want to use it, download it and then unrar and remove the same file from the ccleaner installation folder either in programs or programs x86 folder and drop the file in and it works. winapp2.rar
LeeSmithG
Just to close this subject, something totally screwed up the registry, even with Norton removal tool, then reinstall, problem came back. So I restored and image to 1st February 2016, updated, reinstalled software not there and so on. I ran Norton eraser and removed, glary and Wisecare as it said thy are trouble, so I did. I finally got Windows updates to work, so I am up-to-date. My system now works great, no live Update hassles now.
