Use DISM with the RestoreHearlh and Source options:

You can specify a new location for the known good files by using the /Source switch alongside /RestoreHealth.

Before you can use the repair commands, you will either need a copy of the install.wim file from another computer, a Windows 10 installation media, or the Windows 10 ISO file. It's also very important that the source of the known good files matches the same version, edition, and language of the operating system you're using.

Note: If you come across any issues using the ISO using the Media Creation Tool, you can try downloading the Windows 10 installation files from the Microsoft's Tech Bench Upgrade Program site.

Now you are ready to run the command to fix the Windows image:

·         Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).

·         Type the following command and press Enter:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:repairSource\install.wim

Note: Remember to replace "repairSource" for the path to the source with known good files. For example, D:\Sources\install.wim.

The command will perform a Windows image repair using the known good files included within the install.wim file using the Windows 10 installation media, and without trying to use Windows Update as a source to download the required files for repair.

The offline method using windows 10 installation media ends up with the following error

@rudrax

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:D:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

This command line is executed successfully without any errors.

Yet the windows update showing problems. It says that I am not connected online. See the screenshot below.

I am connected to the Internet and all other apps working fine accessing the internet. I tried turning off the firewall too. Same error persists.

It meant to repair corrupted system files, may(if you are lucky) and may not solve your WU issue.

So do you have any ideas regarding my WU issue?

No, but why the contradiction since you use Windows Update Catalog to manage updates manually there's no need to run WU services.

And using Dism to install, you can turn off WU services completely.

Using windows update catalog, how would I know that which updates are available for me? If this really works, I am looking forward to disable the WU service completely.

To Install, you need to extract downloaded .msu to .cab file then install using Dism

Why convert .msu to .cab? .msu can be directly installed by doule-clicking on it. What's the catch using DISM?

.msu requires WU services to install, Dism don't. As mentioned, to turn off wuauserv completely.

Sorry, my bad. I need to turn off the WU by running 'services.msc', right? But what about the 'security center'? Won't it keep showing me the warning?

services.msc

or command prompt (Admin)

net stop wuauserv
sc config wuauserv start= disabled

I don't see any security center warning message at all but then everyone have different system configuration. Even if it does show warning, it can be hide/turn off in settings
