-Run cmd with admin rights and type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
-Click Enter

Won't it restore my all windows related settings to default?

It requires internet access. I am curious how big is the required file because I have a very slow Internet connection.

Use DISM with the RestoreHearlh and Source options:

You can specify a new location for the known good files by using the /Source switch alongside /RestoreHealth.

Before you can use the repair commands, you will either need a copy of the install.wim file from another computer, a Windows 10 installation media, or the Windows 10 ISO file. It's also very important that the source of the known good files matches the same version, edition, and language of the operating system you're using.

Note: If you come across any issues using the ISO using the Media Creation Tool, you can try downloading the Windows 10 installation files from the Microsoft's Tech Bench Upgrade Program site.

Now you are ready to run the command to fix the Windows image:

·         Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).

·         Type the following command and press Enter:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:repairSource\install.wim

Note: Remember to replace "repairSource" for the path to the source with known good files. For example, D:\Sources\install.wim.

The command will perform a Windows image repair using the known good files included within the install.wim file using the Windows 10 installation media, and without trying to use Windows Update as a source to download the required files for repair.

You should first try this first and then this. If both won't work, follow this thread.

To clear the Windows Update history, please follow the steps below:

1. Open command prompt:

1) Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
2) In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator.
3) When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.

2. At the command prompt, type "net stop WuAuServ" (without quotations) and press Enter.
3. Click Start, type "%windir%" (without quotations) in the Start Search box and press Enter.
4. In the opened folder, look for the folder named "SoftwareDistribution" and open it.
5. Double click the DataStore folder and locate the DataStore.edb file. Right-click on the file, select "Rename" and type "DataStoreold" (without quotations) to rename this file.
6. Open command prompt, type in the command "net start WuAuServ" (without quotations) and press Enter to restart the Automatic Updates service.

Then check if the updates failure history is cleared.

don't remove the updated windows update agent; it gets updated automatically through windows update. If you remove it you end up having problems with receiving and installing updates.

Download Windows Update Troubleshooter for windows 7 and run it to find out what issues you have and let repairs run automatically

@rudrax any progress on repairs?

Nope, the issue still exists. My internet connection is not fast enough to do the repairs online and I am not sure about repairing with a offline windows installation media as it may undo all previously installed updates.

no need to be afraid about losing all updates because only corrupted components will be fixed

try WSUS offline updates; you can download and install updates that way. Usually Windows Updates works after using WSUS

after installing updates using WSUS first thing you do is let windows check for updates the normal way; if all is fine Windows update should find a few
