Windows update situation

Recommended Posts

I have windows 10 Ent. LTSB installed in my laptop. I have manually downloaded and installed the windows update through windows download catalog in order to use them again in case I have to format my laptop in future.

The problem is, I have installed the necessary updates but windows update is still showing the installed updates in the list. After successfull installation the updates should have been gone from the list but windows is showing same installed updates to download again and again whenever I connect to the internet. I have deleted the windows update cache but no use.

Any ideas?

Run Windows Update troubleshooter

This will automatically detect problems with your system, which can take a few minutes to complete. Download the troubleshooter, then click Advanced Settings and you’ll find an “Apply repairs Automatically” option.

Run the troubleshooter and it should hopefully clear up this problems

If that does not work, try this.

The only thing that come to my mind is: "hide them"...

How to do that in win 10?

Not working. Command line operation completes successfully. Restarted. The installed updates are still there.

thanks for the screenshot.

Download Windows Repair AIO from tweaking.com, open it and go to repairs and click "Open Repairs". Uncheck everything first and check Repair Windows Updates (number 17 in the repairs list) and run the repair tool. When finished restart Windows and check again.

NOTE: for the best results run repairs in safe mode!

Well, the forum search engine is not always useful, and topics such yours end up going unnoticed...
Nevertheless, I stick with my purpose in trying to help
That's what matters.

by experience i can tell you that there is no fixing windows update on an setup upgraded from windows 7/8

all the files required to fix that are non existant and by trying to fix it you end up breaking it even more. so the better option is to download a windows image with the media creation tool and reinstall it. after that it is very unlikely that it happens again

Try CMD (admin):

1. sfc /scannow

2. Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /restorehealth

Turn windows-update off and use Windows Update MiniTool to download/install your selected updates.

This situation is on a clean installed win 10 ent. LTSB system.

I had a similar problem on a friend's machine on Windows 10 and the problem was successfully fixed using Windows Repair AIO

run Windows Update Troubleshooter again (Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 users can open Start screen, or on touch screens, swipe in from the right edge of screen and tap Search icon. Type troubleshoot and click or tap Troubleshooting.
Then click Fix problems with Windows Update in the System and Security section.Click Advanced, verify that Apply repairs automatically is enabled and click the Run as administrator link.
This method is the first step in resolving errors 0x800b0100 and 0x80246002 (files required by Windows Update might be corrupt), 0x80073712 (a file needed by Windows Update is damaged or missing), 0x8024401C, 0x80072efd and 0x8007066A or 66A (couldn't connect to the Windows Update servers) and 0x8024a000 (Automatic Updates was unable to service incoming requests). )

I did as you have directed. I ran the troubleshooter as admin and it found one issue which it said that it fixed it. see the screenshot below:

I have restarted my laptop and tried updating the windows again but unfortunately the same error shown in my previous post pops up.
