dickmaster
Hi! When i double-click the tray icon of WFC right after boot nothing happens. And I have to go into the task manager and end WFC and then restart the WFC. I have no problem if I right click on the tray icon and open WFC interface, only when dubble-click on it. This problem seems to only be in Windows 10, have tested Windows 7 and then everything is working as it should. someone who recognizes this? Ghazi
@dickmaster This is not only a Windows 10 problem. It has a similar issue on Windows 8.1. I think its a problem with WIn 8.1/10 code that does not make it to open by double clicking. Hope you find a solution

Bigmedion
Hi All, Very Strange I'm on Windows 10 1511 X64, and never had this problem, but I have any icons on my desktop, all icons of favorite programs are in the task bar, using task bar tweaker to reduce space between icons, actually 26 icons, plus the menu icon, the magnify icon and the "task display" icon native. Edit: Ooops ! Apologise, Open via destop do the the same issue, (forgotten start via taskbar need only a simple clic héhé)
macnavarra
Shell32.dll is responsible for handling shell API calls, which affect a large amount of the items you interact with in Windows (for example opening files). On occasion some of the things that Shell32 is normally responsible for handling can be reassigned to other applications, or otherwise corrupted, causing any number of issues. The /i portion of that command calls the DLLInstall portion of Shell32.dll, which offers it the opportunity to do any necessary (re)installation tasks, such as adding/correcting registry entries. maybe! running regsvr32 /i shell32.dll in Command Prompt Admin could fix these issue. straycat19
Normally when I have problems with a program I first go to the developer for answers. Have you tried these troubleshooting steps from Binisoft? The program does not start or does not work as expected Due to many system configurations and various programs used, there may be situations when Windows Firewall Control may not work correctly. The cause may be in our code which may not take into consideration a special scenario or even a 3rd party software which may conflict with our program or even with Windows Firewall. In order to find the problem, try to follow the next steps: 1. Make sure that our software is not blocked by your antivirus or by other security software that you use. You know better which are these. You can also temporarily disable them to see if the behaviour changes. 2. If you install Windows Firewall Control on a different computer or in a virtual machine, does it work as expected ? 3. If you uninstall and reinstall the program, do you still have the same problem ? See above in this section how to uninstall the program. 4. Please go to Event Viewer (execute eventwr.msc). Under Applications and Service logs category, there is a subcategory named WFC. There are logged all errors from Windows Firewall Control. If you see errors logged here, from the right panel, use the button named Save all events as... to export an *.evtx file and send it to us to check it. 5. Also in Event Viewer, under Windows Logs category, there is a subcategory named Application. Here are logged all errors from all programs. Check in this log if there are error entries regarding the files wfc.exe or wfcs.exe. If so, export an *.evtx file of this log too and send it to us to check it. We can find here a .NET Framework problem that is causing the problem that you have. When sending us an email please provide us as many details of the problem that you have. Write down the exact steps that you did, make a screenshot of the error that you receive, specify your operating system, if it is a virtual machine or a real machine, what other security software you use on the computer. Providing as many relevant details of your scenario will increase the chances to reproduce the problem that you have on our test machines. Then we will be able to provide a solution. If none of these work have you tried Windows 10 Firewall Control from Sphinx Software? The problem with windows 10 is Microsoft keeps changing everything inside it so it makes it difficult for developers to keep up, especially when Microsoft isn't releasing information. I only run Windows 10 Ent LTSB and don't use WFC in it, so I can be of no help there. Those that are having problems on Windows 8.1, it has to be your system. I have it on 11 systems running 8.1 Pro and have not experienced any problems.

Q: why does it happen? A: I can't tell you why exactly does it happen, but i can tell you when does it happen: the GWX update script has a bug. if you updated from a previous version of windows you most likely have that problem and trying to fix it only makes it worse. Q: how to fix it? A: the only reliable way of fixing it that i've found is downloading the media creation tool and REINSTALLING windows from a dvd. (no need to format or anything) but yes, you will have to reinstall all your software. after that you will not have that problem ever again. as the required files to roll back will be in your hard drive. (they do not exist if you update). all those power shell commands that are floating around assume you HAVE the rollback files, (so they are useless until you reinstall from dvd)
