AD
I have a 2 part question: My computer came with Windows 8. I upgraded to windows 8.1 Part 1: About 6 weeks ago I made an image of my hard drive. This past week my computer started acting up (np since I had an image). After I restarted my computer after restoring the image, I keep getting computer errors. The ones I can remember are 0x0000034 and 00000225. Which basically means I need a Windows 8 disc. So do I get a Windows 8 disc since thats what my computer came with? or Windows 8.1 since that's what I upgraded to? Part 2: I can't seem to find a windows 8 disc without getting a product key. So I'm thinking about buying Windows 8.1. The problem with that is I don't want to lose any of my programs. I don't want to reinstall everything. So if I clone my hard drive will I be able to just restore my programs when I do get the windows 8.1 disc? Thanks for any help AD
dezsez
I should see about finding out what the product key is for your original Window 8.There are a few programs what can do that for you. One I remember is "Advanced Tokens manager" .Then download a Windows Version which is installed on your PC then see if it rectifys the errors
gipsy
easiest way to find information about windows version is contact to PC producer/builder. the key or in BIOS or it's retail version & producer/builder should to leave lable with the key for u this case. u don't need buy anythin',any way any key supported to win8/8.1(thru update). all above imo as usually. I don't want to reinstall everything. - See here for Windows 8.1 ISO download links - Error 0x0000034 - Boot Configuration Data File is Missing - Error 0x00000225 can occur notably after a windows 8 upgrade to 8.1 Easy Recovery Essentials can solve your boot problems
Ghazi
Which brand laptop is this?? In windows 8 the product key is inserted in BIOS. Normally if you install the same version that was previously installed on your laptop it will take key automatically. So no need to buy a window. Find the windows 8.1 version matching the old version windows e.g Window 8.1 Single language English. The latest is update 3. If you share a screen shot by right click on My computer>Properties. When every thing is done do make a recovery image by sysprep. Can help you further but first resolve your problem
