bob1234
if you mean just general program updates, I prefer this one:http://www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/I've tried others, but they didn't really suit me. This thing is small and fast. Other programs might encompass more, but this gets the job done for me since all I really use it for is checking now and then for updates I may have missed. Bizarre™
Personally, I check the revision history of the programs. If they are required / important, then I think it's time to update.
shought
For me it depends on how much I use the program and its importance. For instance I'll update my AV or Firewall right away, but Trojan Remover(which I barely use) I only update when needed. I update my music/video players and codec pack whenever I feel like doing so or when something isn't working properly and for other applications I use the same method as Bizarre posted, just check the changelogs. Administrator DKT27 Posted July 23, 2009 Administrator Share Posted July 23, 2009 My secret - Update Notifier :)
HX1
I tried to find Update Notifier...I did find it but the site is currently not responding...?For me.. Security, is first and foremost.System based updates is next... this would pertain to BIOS, Drivers, and Devices.. Hardware Management basically. Network Management Resources which includes subdivisions of Control, Data, and Transfer; all are checked about as often as Security. All other areas ( Internet, Entertainment, Digital Design, Digital Inscription, Media Development, Code Development ) all are kept up to date. Some are more critical than others. Any programs that uses a network connection of any kind for any reason, is usually checked and watched closely. For me manually...until I check out Update Notifier..OKAY.. so that sounds crazy.. I can sit down and complete a FULL system check and maintenance in anywhere from an hour to two hours. I tried SUMO in the past but I didn't keep it for some reason. For now I use this method...EDIT: Didn't realize how.. off topic I got..LOL .. so 80% content edit... jalaffa
how how do you update your software programs? just curiousAll the time :) When posting an update on the front page I have them checked first by installing them quite often. To day HyperSnap 6.1.0.3 (previous key did not work, so my private one to the rescue), SuperAntiSpyware 4.27.1000 Beta (my private key used to activate - weather the current generic patch + keygen works not tested), K-Lite Codec Pack Update 5.0.3 Build 20090728 installed, Sun Java Runtime Environment 6.0 Update 15 installed, PC Tools Spyware Doctor 6.1.0.447 installed to clear up the confusion about actual version number (also to confirm that serial is not working), DVDFab Platinum 6.0.4.0 installed (serial no good - reverted to 6.0.2.2 - serial good). So yes basically all the time
