[Monitor Problem] odd Messages.

I have an Acer 24 Inch H.D.M.I. monitor, three years old in March.

This morning it displayed some message.

The acer control box came up (without me touching it) and then screen went black in right hand side (as you look at monitor) appeared in sequence H.D.M.I. then V.G.A. then D.V.I.

So I thought, must be cable, so changed it for my new spare.

Same message.

So I am thinking, maybe the P.C.I. Express A.T.I. graphics card is faulty, check it in system devices, told it works fine.

I also check the monitor in system devices and told it's working fine.

So any ideas why this is happening?

Is it the card, or the monitor?

Thanks in advance for replies.

Hi mate, it's the monitor, there have a chip for manage the switch betwen HDMI-VGA-DVI, now your monitor is changing the source automatically without stop, right.

Thanks for the replies.

I did a system restore and adjusted the brightness, as too bright and it seems to have stopped.

However it might come back so I will check what you both wrote and hopefully be gone till the thing dies the right way.

Just an update, 'demo mode' does not exist in my Acer monitor and it died eventually.

So got a new one today, monitor died Saturday.

I will stick it on eBay as spares and repairs.

Not quite three (3) years old.

I usually buy LG monitor and TVs. Only once had a problem with a monitor a few years ago, they RMAed it and sent me a newer model!

Yes, I will get a L.G. next time, I have a L.G. bluray player and it's lasted long time.
