Kodi 16.0 “Jarvis” is here

Kodi 16.0 “Jarvis”, the famous media hub that used to be called XBMC, has been released and is now available for download.

After a rich development cycle that saw the addition of a large number of fixes and new features, the final version of Kodi 16.0 “Jarvis” has finally arrived. This is a massive upgrade, and most users will find something interesting.

Despite being a really advanced media hub that already seems to have it all, it's hard to believe that they can add even more, but that's exactly what happened. The latest version of Kodi brings much-needed event logging, non-linear stretch for 4:3, and lots of Add-on Manager changes.

Some of the long time users of Kodi will notice that the development pace has increases somewhat. The team is pushing more features in less time in an effort to increase the functionality of the media hub. We no longer have to wait a long time between releases and that can only be a good thing.

“The first big step in making Kodi better at communicating with you, the user, is the addition of event logging. With this feature, you always have a constantly updating list of all the most important things Kodi has done recently, along with little issues you can fix. For example, when you scan in a library for the first time, the Even Logger will provide you with a list of videos that didn’t quite make it into the library,” developers have explained.

According to the changelog, a long press feature for remote controls has been added, stretching 4:3 content to 16:9 in a way that doesn’t warp the content has been added, the roll-back button on add-on info panel has been replaced by Update, the integration of ADSP (Audio Digital Signal Processing) has been started, add date has been implemented in the music library, and many more changes have been made.
