The regulator plans to hold over 1,000 scheduled inspections of compliance with the law on keeping of Russian users’ personal data on servers in Russia

 

MOSCOW, January 11. /TASS/. Central Federal District Department of the Russian IT and communications regulator will inspect a number of banks, IT companies, retailers, and companies from other sectors for compliance with the Russian personal data keeping laws, the regulator said on Monday.

 

In particular, Moscow Department of Information Technologies, Ozon, LaModa and Wildberries e-commerce companies will be inspected in January - February. March will see inspections of Microsoft Russia unit, SuperJob job search engine, Ostrovok.ru online hotel booking service and Sirena-Travel booking and ticket selling solutions provider. Several subsidiaries of foreign automakers, Rolf auto dealer and Perekrestok retailer will be inspected in April. Pegas Touristic, HeadHunter recruiting company, McDonald’s, X5 Retail and Russian representative offices of foreign cosmetic companies (Avon, Oriflamme, Mary Kay, Yves Rocher, and Amway) will undergo inspections in May - July. August will see inspections at Russian subsidiaries of Samsung and Hewlett-Packard. Inspections of SUP Media affiliated with Rambler & Co, Credit Bank of Moscow, Unicredit, Citibank and Rosbank.

 

The regulator plans to hold over 1,000 scheduled inspections of compliance with the law on keeping of Russian users’ personal data on servers in Russia, head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov said late in December 2015. 302 companies were inspected in 2015 and no gross violations were found.

 

Russia’s personal data keeping law is effective from September 1, 2015.
