Apparently you've got:

5 GB RAM

Amount: 5 GB

Speed: PC3-10600 MB/sec

Type: DDR3-1333

Memory upgrade information

Single channel memory architecture

Two 240-pin DDR3 UDIMM sockets

Supports the following:

PC3-6400 (DDR3-800)

PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066)

Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered

Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit* systems

Supports up to 32 GB on 64-bit systems (with 16 GB DIMMs)

 NOTE:

32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory

it's easier and faster if you grab a screwdriver, take off the lid and see how many slots there are. it's not that daunting a task, and it won't explode...besides, you might learn a thing or two

Hi Saeed, HRU my new friend? Happy new yr.

Right now I get a lot of "not responding" messages on my PC. It has 5 GB of ram in it which I am sick and tired of getting. How much RAM would I need to add to stop seeing this message? I wouldnt want to spend some much on it so if you could show me some prices with the RAM i need i would really appreciate it. I stream network tv shows that i missed on tv and watch it on it, browse the net, chat on skype and that is about it for net usage. Can you help me out with my question?

thx

Seems a software related problem...

May be You should try a new OS install (...back-up first...)...

Hope is useful...

Im great thanx how are you?

well based on your usage I think 5 GB is enough for you, "not responding" messages can have many reasons. right click on the Windows taskbar bar and choose "task manager", then see how much of your RAM is being used, maybe you have free RAM but some other Windows components causing "not responding messages".

your system supports up to 16 GB RAM and if you wanna upgrade, 8 GB will suffice but you'll have to sell your current 5 GB and then either buy one 8GB RAM stick or two 4GB.

@bruinator

Apparently you've got 5GB RAM which in my opinion is enough for Win10 and other programs to perform adequately. So the reason why your PC may perform slowly is Software-related.

Now this may seem a hefty task but I suggest a re-format and clean installation of Windows. It will definitely clear-up the situation and your PC will perform good. Be sure to have latest drivers at hand and install them right after installing Windows.

Regards.

Your system's RAM usage looks fine, all of those background programs running with 38% of total RAM. when do you exactly get not responding error? like when using a certain program.

also, if you get that error you can go to "Event viewer" in windows and see which program/service causes that.

Try to analyze the dump and try to get a full dump.

Read http://www.windbg.org/ .

It could be a faulty ram module that is causing bsod and strange behavior.

One of your drivers is causing the BSOD. you need to find it and replace it with a newer version, but can't tell which one unless you give me the file located in

C:\Windows\Minidump\011016-29515-01.dmp

if you can't see it, try safe mode or enable showing hidden system files and hidden files in the control panel ==> Folder option

I can see it but i am getting denied access when i try to view it with notepad. How do I open it plz?

unfortunately I haven't had a bsod recently so the folder doesn't exist in my C drive

but I think you can unlock it by this method:

  1. download Take ownership registery file
  2. open zip file and install the reg file and choose "yes" when asked, it will add a "take ownership" to your right-click menu so either right-click on the .dmp file or the whole "Minidump" folder and take ownership of them. you should be able to open it now

That BSOD is related to your AV. Might well be one of rare ones. If not, you can try removing or updating your AV and see if fixes the problems you have in it.

Do you mean like removing it and installing it again?

I tried to figure out what the problem is, but I can not found. Can anyone be able to tell where the real problem here is hiding?
Unfortunately, before anything cannot be solved if there is no problem, or do not know, what is the real problem.

  • RAM cannot be the problem,
  • BSOD cannot be problem. This is a consequence of something.
(PS BSOD - still is only two solutions to this problem, but I'm not going to say it before, if reason does not know.)
