asf
Hi there I have a friend that would like to get himself a new graphics computer, he came to me, but i never build any PC. (not the assembly, only which parts to buy ) He doesn't have a limit on money up to 1000$ (it's his preferred amount, if there is a real need he is able to go over that) , BUT he also doesn't want to throw money for parts that he doesn't need ore that are overkill's. He needs it basically for Photoshop. Illustrator, Indesign. (he won't need it for rendering) I'm not searching for places to buy, just which parts to buy. I would appreciate any help i could get. Thanks in advance
AcIdPort
Hello, most of adobe products take advantage from nvidia technologies on vcards and use hyperthreading from intel technology. It seems that you gave me a video editing, gaming, overclocking, Computer, isn't that an overkill? as he won't do all that, he is doing Just Photoshop illustrator indesign, no rendering etc. Thanks
AcIdPort
No, not at all. I give you options in case your friend says something like "I give it a shit, I'll buy that one, I have the money" If you want the normal one then go for this options: Intel Boxed Core I7-6700 FC-LGA14C 3.40 GHz 8 M Processor Cache 4 LGA 1151 BX80662I76700 MSI Computer ATX DDR4 Motherboard H170A GAMING PRO Kingston HyperX FURY Black 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4 Non-ECC CL14 DIMM Desktop Memory (HX421C14FBK2/16) EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB SC ACX 2.0 Graphics Card 04G-P4-2974-KR Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM) (for OS and programs) Seagate 2TB Desktop HDD SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST2000DM001) Corsair Professional Series 760 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Platinum Power Supply AX760 Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2) Corsair Vengeance Series Black C70 Mid Tower Computer Case (CC-9011016-WW) BenQ GW Series GW2765HT 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor Corsair STRAFE Cherry MX Red (CH-9000088-NA) Corsair Raptor M45-5000 DPI Optical Sensor (Raptor M45) Corsair MM200 Standard Edition (CH-9000079-WW) I see now the money limit. I've edited the list, updating on it all components accord with your budget. You could change the SDD by this: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E250B/AM) and VCard by this: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB SSC GAMING ACX 2.0+ Graphics Card 02G-P4-2966-KR If he doesn't need video editing. Then if he is a true photo editing professional and needs the best quality no matter that costs Ezio is the best choice as hawk007 said. Eizo ColorEdge CX271-BK-CN Wide Screen ,Wide Color Gamut TFT IPS LCD, Black, 2560x1440 DP/DVI, 1920x1080 HDMI Use this monitor with a certified DisplayPort 1.2 cable: Accell UltraAV B142C-007B-2 DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable with Locking Latches (6.6ft /2m) Have a nice day! I have a AMD HD 7970 and whenever I'm using Photoshop, Premier, Autocad (no rendering), my GPU's usage on MSI afterburner shows only 12 to 20 percent. actually any normal graphic card can do that. if you want to increase the performance of those programs you need to have more RAM and a decent CPU with SSD. AcIdPort
Well, if you are familiarized with Photoshop you should know that from CS6 version Adobe take advantage of nvidia technologies to accelerate filtering, resizing and many other photoshop functions. Clearly your (old) 7970 doesn't take advantage of it. Even Premier takes many benefits from cuda cores that is something AMD (Radeon) doesn't have it. HyperThreading present on i7 series, loves photoshop and with that budget worth make the investment. Greets!
asf
I'm Sooo sorry just noticed that i had a mistake with the max amount he is able to spend (i needed to convert from another currency, and got mixed up) His limit is about 1000$ just for the computer parts, excluding Mouse and keyboard and PSU and screen, but again if there is a real need to get something that goes over the limit he will go over, it's just that this is the preferred amount. AcIdPort
Well asf, that requires a new list. So this will be in his budget: Intel Core i7-6700 8M 3.4 GHz LGA 1151 BX80662I76700 Desktop Processor ASRock H170 Pro4 LGA 1151 Intel H170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Crucial 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR4 2133 MT/s (PC4-17000) CL15 DR x8 Non-ECC UDIMM 288-Pin Memory CT2K8G4DFD8213/CT2C8G4DFD8213 Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E250B/AM) Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST1000DM003) EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB SSC GAMING ACX 2.0+ Graphics Card 02G-P4-2966-KR Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2) Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-02 Mid Tower Gaming Case (CC-9011051-WW) Corsair Professional Series Gold 650-Watt 80 Plus Gold Certified High Performance Modular Power Supply - CP-9020006-NA BenQ GW Series GW2765HT 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor Corsair STRAFE Cherry MX Red (CH-9000088-NA) Corsair Raptor M45-5000 DPI Optical Sensor (Raptor M45) Corsair MM200 Standard Edition (CH-9000079-WW) Best regards! Holmes
What operating system do you plan on using?? I recommend if you can find it windows seven ultimate or windows eight point one. I would not use windows ten at the moment its got some problems and for new users it is going to be alot of work just to get it usable plus you can save money if Im not mistaken. Those parts are very close to my setup If you want the images to look good through your eyes I would get a HD LED Backlit monitor (you can choose any size I am using a twentyfour inch I love it and I dont work with image that much I mostly do video editing and sound editing and gaming. Do you plan on using it to listen to music and watch movies to? If you do a good sound card is good.
AcIdPort
Hello Holmes, I think (no ofense) there's no point to use other Windows OS than 10 Pro x64 - 1151. It's by far the best option out there, rock solid and I've not had a single issue with it. Monitor size matters when you work on photo editing. Raw images or pictures taken with professional cameras has big resolutions and you will benefit if you have a big and accurate monitor. Greets! VileTouch
a moderate GPU should be more than enough if he's not into 3d modeling. a single GTX 760ti is cheap enough (more so if you buy it second hand from a gamer :P) for work you want an i7 despite the cost, a few (more than one) SSD as big as you can afford. and some 16gb ram should suffice. this little number will eat most of your budget, but it's worth the investment. for best results get 3 or
