Pidgin IM 2.10.12 released

IMHO, the best IM client. Supports OTR and other encryption, transfer of small files etc.

My question is, are there any reliable servers left ?

Microsoft dropped it, Yahoo breaks down every other startup and asks me to log in on the web interface, and many servers do not accept encrypted messages.

I used it to chat with friends and family, and occasionally upload malware to researchers.

I'd like to hear from other users (that might also have very limited bandwidth) which servers they recommend and use.

TIA

Works great with Jabber and Google and there's an unofficial plugin for Facebook chat which I forget where I saw that but, i'm sure you can Google it.

I'm afraid Google and Facekook would not make it past my hosts file.

But Jabber sounded great. I tried to register, but got this message:

June 25, 2013: We have temporarily disabled account registration at the jabber.org IM service while we migrate the account database to a new machine. We will enable the web registration form again as soon as possible!

Do you use one of the alternative public XMPP service servers ?

And does it support OTR encryption ?
