once v44 comes out if you want keep using unsigned  add-ons and get updates what choice will you have ? Or use palemoon  .  Im using EsR now bee cause they remove the  hack to get old search back that breaks one of my add-ons.

As long as you don't use x64 bit version of FF  if you use x64  bit you can install both  and keep the new and the ESR x86  and it will use the same profile . I'm on Linux it has x64 ESR
