mastermindsos
Hello members, It seems I have issue with my internet usage. It seems quite slow these few days. When I checked the usage via the router UI, I could see these addresses are eating my bandwidth. My PC is idle at this time: Spoiler 58.27.124.168 104.75.12.27 204.79.197.221 One seems to point to Akamai Technologies, Telekom TMNet (MY) and Microsoft. For your information, I am staying in MY and using TMNet as my service provider. Is the Microsoft address for Windows Update? (but my windows update is not running) Eg: tcp 204.79.197.221:80 MyPcName:12331 773.757 kBytes 32.817 MBytes Normal Normal I am worried I am being spied... Could anyone tell me why these addresses are "active"? It seems to be active only when my PC is ON. I don't have this problem before this, at least I never notice this issue before. I am using Windows 10. Thank you.

I am using gargoyle firmware. I leave my firewall setting at default. I do not know how to play with it. So i thought leaving it as it is, is good for me. I use google chrome. Why do you think that akamai is active? I have no idea what it is. What about the telekom? When I block that telekom address, I am not able to aceess the internet. Jordan
Akamai is a distributed content delivery network. disabling it can cause some problems like non working websites and possibly windows updates too try to disable bing first & see if it solves your problem
straycat19
Have you installed any of the Windows 10 Spy Stopping software? Are the live icons active on your desktop? If so turn them off so they won't be grabbing data.

Could you elaborate on "live icons"? I am not sure if I have/use them..
Sylence
I tell you what, just download and install this tiny tool and run it, restart your system and you won't lose any more unintended bandwidth. tested by millions of people, including users of this community https://github.com/Nummer/Destroy-Windows-10-Spying/releases/download/1.6.716/DWS_Lite.exe
Jordan
like i said in my first reply, slowness can have several causes. if you test your internet connection on another system (win7/8.1) & there is no problem, then windows 10 & its new features are the culprit solutions mentionned above by Straycat & Saeed_dc are very helpful & can solve your problems

I will give their suggestion a try. Thanks people for the help. Really appreciate all the efforts and time you have put in.
davmil
Those addresses are "legit" - at least in the sense that they're not pulling malware, etc. MSFT is constantly pinging all around now-a-days as do many apps checking licenses, etc., that's just the way it is from now on. I doubt it's eating much bandwidth compared to things that do like FBook, YouTube, etc.
