Karabasas
Over the years, I personally had to work mainly with Microsoft products, even not liked for the Licencing issues, but have come to conclusion it is the best. At home, I had all sorts played with and even some are good, most aren't great. Even though the size of application is never justifiable Didn't ever grown to like Open /Libre suites, because of awkward layout, but those proven to be near good, until complexed formula's needed processing or amendment. Kingsoft (WPS) "Open Office" lacked load of standard features and having deliberate limitations ended being outclassed by all other alternatives. Do remember testing and almost liking IBM Lotus Office Suite, but it had also the same annoying limitations, notably inept to process presentations and in general, kept crashing and "offering" paid accounts and features. Google documents, whilst OK in general terms when online, but, all the same - nowhere near to be having all features needed to the office work. Answer seems simple just patch up Microsoft Office, but it is not that wise or sensible, when talking about work office set up. The new 360, seems to be good attempt to improve Google Documents, whilst online interface really kills it functionality too. So, the ideas, I am looking for, is to have worth researching and recommending for others, as in stand alone installed, functional Office Suite for both home and small business use? Many thanks! oliverjia
Your best bet is Libreoffice. When it comes to Office suite, hands down for Microsoft Office. This is the reality now, sadly.

I played with Kingsoft WPS and LibreOffice on Ubuntu. WPS is better in terms of compatibility with MS office; Libreoffice appears to have more features. Sometimes I have to share documents with colleagures, who always use ms office, which in turn makes me not being able to leave MS Office. I am not sure there are other better alternative to MS office. Someone mentioned Softmaker Freeoffice but I have never tried that.

straycat19
The new LibreOffice 5.04 has come a long way toward being a good Microsoft Office replacement. A survey done a couple years ago resulted in a statement that 95% of all Microsoft Office Users only use 4% of the items that are available in the various programs total. Too many people think they need all that power and never use it. So give some of the alternatives a try and see how well they meet your needs. What works for one person will not necessarily work for others.

As mentioned earlier by me and other's, whilst by itself it is half decent and although laid out differently ( proprietary and Licencing issues, no doubt) it failed to impress me personally, let alone ne document formats and layouts edited does go haywire once needed to be worked in correlation to Microsoft Office. Anw, any feedback on https://www.calligra.org ?

Unless you tested it yesterday or today you don't know what you are talking about since 5.04 was just released on the 17th and has over a hundred fixes and improvements since version 5.03. OMG, garbage, tried and got rid off!... upon installation crashed, upon attempts to open a document crashed... I'll try Liibre Office, if it is that much better, I'll test again freeOffice, but not wanting to do no cracks etc, might going to go back to Microsoft Works (with updates)... Karabasas
Free Softmaker Office is as ever the same crude suite, that I hated years ago... Next one testing is Libre 5.04... and by the looks of it next one might me MS Works, build Circa 1945, patched up 2010...
Karabasas
SSuite Ex-Lex Really nice interface, shame about features, especially .docx documents
Karabasas
All of the re' testing etc, got both Libre (still not great, still wrong formatting and other gremlins), got MSWorks 9, updated and... Even that is the best one! To be honest, I'll have to fetch MS Office 2003, that I haven't binned, I think, but short of that (all or any) working out at least bareably- going to have to get fresh copy of MS O 2013, use them patches, as much as I'm not fan off... 16 hours ago, oliverjia said: I played with Kingsoft WPS and LibreOffice on Ubuntu. Karabasas
Guys, could I ask for honest opinion as for which build of Ms O 2010 I should go for? Run Works 9, short of few features... I have one x32, laptop x64 PC's, but in general, I'd like to download one, that would be AIO, with least cracking etc?
