So hello nsaners long time no talk i have been less active in forums (i apologies it was ue to my studies and life) but yet here i am to again ask for help

SO i have planing tyo buy a router for days for my smartphone to connect to the isp network

FOR SOME NETWORK STROGE MAYBE A NEW THING WOULD LIKE IF SMEBODY ALREADY USES IT

but have been facing some issues

  • STOGE DEVICES (plan to share storage witha ndroid and tablet) 1> can i connect any usb storage to router with these RJ45 too USB adapter if so then i can but cheap TP-LINK TL-WR841N which have no usb port at all or have software integration for searching storage device. 2>or shold i buy these router which have usb port and software integration and other RJ45 can be converted to usb 3>are there is no option to convert rj45 to usb and only the integrated usb port works
  • I have no exerience with router so any technologies i should aspire for to be future proof (i dont plan to invest much but can if its good for 5 years and above)
  • my brodband are low as sh*t (max 8mbps to max 20mbps while peering) so should i buy 150 mbps (single antenna) or dual antenna(300 mbps) AND I DONT THINK MY USE IS BIG ENOUGH TO FACE DROP ISSUES
  • and should consider anything about the dc wattage (MOST RUN ON 12 V I THINK) of router (i dont think it will kill my elecctricity billls) and anything about warranty (are router really not sturdy as i see 3 year warranty to 5)

NOTE -- i stated tp routers above as i heard they are chAP AND VERY EASY TO CONFIGURE

FOR SOME NETWORK STROGE MAYBE A NEW THING YOU SHOULD TRY IT I SUPPOSE, WOULD LIKE IF SOMEBODY ALREADY USES IT

AND I HEARD SOMETHING CALLLED GAMING ROUTER (I DONT THING ITS ANY USE TO ME)

ANY help i get is encouraged THANKS for replying in advance

You cannot use USB adaptor to RJ45 for connecting drives to your router... using routers w/o USB ports like

the TP-LINK TL-WR841N.. These routers have no ROM/firmware out of the box for accessing storage devices..

you may do some MODs on your router if you are handy with electronics and good at compiling source code to ROMS

https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd..

If not just get a router with USB support..

BETTER yet make a NAS (network attached storage) boxes (http://www.freenas.org) using a spare PC

or buy those ready made ones

These usually have LAN connectors which you can connect to your router, or can piggy back on your existing WIFI

Hard to say if you want to "future proof" your router. Just the best you can afford and need atm..

If you don't have problems with cost, get the newer ones.. ( note standards change every year: you have the old Wireless N 150, N 300, N 600, then the newer Wireless AC which is in the gigabit and 10gb range..)

don't experiment with dongels whatsoever. It just costs extra bucks and maybe not getting you where you want.

Just get a TP-Link TL-WR1403N. Cheap, reliable, usb storage support out of the box, and, what's most important, OpenWRT support ( hd version 1 - 2, v3 on the way )

I had considered NAS but got no money for that thing just too expensive looks like router with usb is the answer

please mention the latest standard like this year or a a standard that had a major upgrade

alll i see is diff between type of security and bgn

PS the link you mentioned later i had already seen that but still to be sure posted here

One confusion will those adapters work with router having atleast one usb port

what i dont like all routers have only one usb port barely any have even two (if there are it is expensive)

or another dumb solution is usb extender but router wont recongnise two device at a port
