Windows 10's standalone November update

Recommended Posts

Hi, since the Windows 10's November update hasn't appeared in my Windows update (Win10 Enterprise) yet and it's also not likely to appear in the future, I'm looking for a way to install it as a standalone update.

I used to check here for new updates but I don't think they're going to put this update in their website. so any hints and helps would be appreciated. Thanks :)

[Fix] Windows 10 Fall Update not showing may be due to one of the following reasons:

1) If you have upgraded to Windows 10 less than 31 days ago.

2) If you have selected to Defer updates in Windows 10 then you won't get this one.

3) If you have installed and then uninstalled the upgrade, then you won't get it again via Windows Update.

Fix:

1)Less than 31 days

Microsoft notes on the official FAQ for the November update that Windows 10 will only appear in Windows Update if the operating system has been clean installed or if the upgrade dates back to at least 31 days.

In other words, if you have upgraded a computer to Windows 10 in the past 31 days, you won't get the update right away.

The reasoning for this is that Microsoft wants to make sure that you can downgrade to the previous operating system. If you would make the new upgrade, you won't be able to do so anymore.

2)Deferring updates

Defer updates is an option for Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise systems to block feature updates from being installed right away on the system.

If you have enabled that option, you won't receive feature updates like the version 1511, 10586 upgrade for Windows 10 right away.

This prevents the update from being found via Windows Update. That's usually a good thing as you may want to test the update before you deploy it on productive machines.

To get the update anyway, you need to disable the defer upgrade option for the time being.

How you do that depends on how it is configured.

If you run Windows Pro or Enterprise, do the following:

Tap on the Windows-key, type gpedit.msc and hit enter.

Navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update.

Check if "Defer Upgrade" is enabled.

If it is, disable it or set it to "not configured".

3)Uninstalled the update

If you have uninstalled the update to the new version of Windows, you won't get it offered again in Windows Update.

The only option to download and install it again in this case is to click the "upgrade now" button on this link

4)Media Creation Tool

If nothing works simply try the Media Creation Tool and get the updated win 10 Build 10586 .

Basically Windows 10 Build 10240 and Build 10586 are completely separate Operating Systems (like Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.It is not presently possible to transform Build 10240 to Build 10586 with an .msu update. One must do a complete upgrade with ISO, or through WU

None of the above works for me.

I have the updated ISO but I was looking for a way to do this without ISO upgrade. if only Windows update can handle this update then the 10586 update should be like other cumulative updates...

unless the size of the update is around 3.8 GB and Windows update downloads a whole new ISO file and installs that..is that the case?

Thanks but I have them, they exactly appeared on Windows update one day before Windows 10's November update's announcement so I have them. now I need the updates that came after them, the ones that turn current 10240 build into 10586 build... am I missing something here?

I might help you if I get the KB number of the updates that you need.

If you using Enterprise LTSB version, the updates will appear on or after 18th november.

Please refer to the following link in case the november update is not showing up http://www.askvg.com/fix-windows-10-november-update-threshold-2-not-showing-on-your-computer/

I've read a thousands of them but none of them is the case here.

Well I've been using DWS (Destroy Windows 10 spying too) but it's very unlikely that it is causing this to happen..never had any problems with updates before.

You can check things here with teamviewer too if you want.

Unfortuntely I don't have access to a windows computer right now.

If everything fails, there is only one way left. Fresh instal the latest build.

saeed_dc, suggest you go to contol panel > program and features > view installed updates. Make a screen shot of installed updates and post it to the forum. It will be easier to determine which updates is needed. Another useful tool is "Windows 10 Update Mini Tool", it will tell you which updates are needed.

OK, it would seem I'm experiencing the same issue. I have a MAK key activated Enterprise (not LTSB), update deferring was never activated, and the latest cumulative update (mentioned in the thread) was successfully performed on November 11th. Furthermore, the OS was installed in late July. So the most logical step would be for the updates to appear, wouldn't it?

However, I'm going to re-download a couple of those privacy apps, and run their reset/return to factory settings, to see if that helps.

Yes, your system is fully updated. Can only suggest to download Win 10 Enterprise build_10586 TH2 (retail) and do a manual update. Important to back-up your activation before upgrading or fresh install

HTML, please don't Quote!

Looking to upgrade this PC? Need to create a USB, DVD or ISO?
Here is new Windows Media Cretion Tool.

Important

  • To upgrade for free, select the Upgrade now option at the top of this page. If You need more info, red this.
  • We recommend using the media creation tool on a PC running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. If you run this tool on a PC running Windows 10, it can overwrite temporary files that are needed if you ever want to go back to your previous operating system.

If it has been published anywhere already, then please delete it.

Oh so I'm not alone here..lol

most of them create restore points..but that wouldn't be really practical because many things must have been changed since using those tools.
