HX1
I used to have this problem quite a bit .. on both 8.1, and 10.. randomly it will occur as well as accessing these devices... \\0.0.0.0\ always gets it there but the network name \\PC-DEVICENAME seems to randomly be a problem.. It pretty much does not give me an issue since I did several things.. I noticed fluctuations when I viewed network devices by workgroup. Some would show up by WSD, SSDP, and others on NetBIOS... I also had some log on issues that were caused by not using the admin pass on my NAS instead I was using a user account.. :P So it didn't help any either.. LOL... to access mine you have to have a password because of the way I have it setup.. ( not just the admin interface ) Sometimes it will say it cannot be accessed but show it listed and then I will come back and go in and it prompts for a password so I can go in to the directories. even after I have entered in the password and used the IP to get there.. and logged in.. In some cases it would say that I can not be logged in using the same name account by two devices.. Like someone was using it and had files in access locked to the directories.. but it wasn't the case. Some of this ironed out after doing a firmware and OS update for the NAS itself.. but...1. Configured IPv4 in each adapter to always use and allow NetBIOS over TCP/IP ( might also dive off if your NAS NIC settings and allowed protocols as well.. permissions... JIC )2. Added ALL systems and devices to the same workgroup including the router and repeater..3. Also allocated fixed addresses from the router... for each device...4. Doubled checked that ALL entries for network address, gateway and so forth were in place... for all of them..5. Noticed a problem when my LAN connection to my main PC kept changing from Private ( networked ) to Public... and Windows Firewall was blocking the communication.. so I check that setting as well when or if it happens... even with static address.. Did a lot of research on that one but I can't remember what I did about it.. if anything.. but not having much of an issue anymore..6. Started using Network Mapped Drives for a few NAS locations.. which have to be logged into.. I use the IP Address instead of the NetBIOS name..7. Noticed that loading the Network is very slow... Like especially when you boot...EDIT: One more thing I remember is that I was also running File History and Backup from other systems.. to the same NAS and I removed that stuff after reconfiguring a different way to do this... With different usernames.. access privileges.. but eventually because they were both RT Tablets I just simply went to using the cloud service...and pulling files off myself or placing them were I kept them.. depended on the usage.. and type.. but nothing is actually on the tablets/PC's anymore without network.. except synchronized basics.Pretty sure you checked all related network services as well.... and that your not caching these systems in Offline Cache which means they can also be logged into already.. and be syncing in the background....
