funkyy
Since two days ago when I get to the Shorte.st page the "Skip Ad" button doesn't appear at the top right side as usual. There is no countdown either, the page just sits there. I tried refreshing the page various times but that doesn't work. I Googled the question thinking I'd find someone with the same problem, but no joy. I am using Win Xp, and I have ublock origin installed. I don't have any other adblocker enabled and prior to this problem appearing I hadn't made any changes to my system. I thought it might rectify after a day but it's still the same. I checked ublock (as much as I am able to) and I don't see anything there. :(

funkyy
@Kalju....first of all thank you very much for taking time to reply to my problem. I downloaded and installed Wisecare from your link, then I ran it to clean my system. Unfortunately the problem is still the same. I tried your Shorte.st link and several others from movie downloads, but the Shorte.st page appears like before, with no "Skip Ads" button and no countdown. It seems that something is blocking it, but I ave no idea because it was working normally until two days ago...then suddenly things changed. But thanks anyway for your help. Kalju
It is hard to guess. If I was trying it, I had in use MBAM Premium, Superantispyware Pro, Adguard, AdBlock Plus, Ghostery, WOT and Windows default protection, ie 10 Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. Therefore, these things should not cause a problem. funkyy
Thanks anyway Kalju...I'll wait and see if there is any change, because this just started two days ago and I haven't made any changes recently so I don't have any idea what caused this. I too have Malwarebytes Pro, Malwarebytes Antoi-Exploit, AVG internet security, Spybot S&D and none of those has caused a problem like this before. It's one of life's mysteries I guess!!! ;)

funkyy
Kalju, jordan4x and teodz1984 thanks guys, I got it fixed!! First jordan4x, I had tried the first day disabling ublock as it was the obvious suspect but the problem persisted. I also disabled other add-ons and kept trying with no luck. Then, a few minutes ago; I remembered that the other day on one of the forums here giving advice on Firefox security and privacy settings one of the posters had recommended an add-on called "Privacy Settings" which contains all the settings that you might want to adjust all on one interface (instead of doing the "about:config" route. I had installed that add-on and forgot about it. Now when I clicked on it to set everything to "factory defaults" the Shorte.st page now shows the countdown and the "Skip Ads" button. That's the problem with add-ons that you install and forget....you forget about them!!! lolThanks again for your input and suggestions guys...very much appreciated.....and maybe this will help some other noob who staggers about in the dark like me!!!! :D :D :D
