The wait is over, Ghosties!

Our newest & coolest update is here and it’s spectacular. Just download CyberGhost 5.5 and see for yourself!

We’ve added some amazing features that mark CyberGhost’s growth from a VPN service to an all-in-one online privacy and security solution.

[CyberGhost] 5.5 now integrates an ad blocker, protection against malware and viruses, online tracking prevention, data compression, and forced use of the HTTPS protocol while surfing the web.

Starting today, we’ll tell you all about these great additions to our service, beginning with our shiny & new ad blocker feature.

Ah, ad blocking…the hottest topic out there in the digital world these days, the bane of advertisers and publishers alike and the joy of Internet users everywhere.

To block or not to block, that seems to be question. And the answer is yet to be found.

Some publications have taken to kindly asking users to disable their ad blocker or donate money instead, some are now serving up content you have to pay for, and others have downright chosen to restrict access to all their content until the users’ ad blocker is disabled.

To each his own.

In response, users are by no means backing down, latest data showing that 42% of Europeans aged between 16 and 24 have used ad blocking software, while a study backed by YouGov reveals that 57% of Brits who downloaded an ad blocker did so in order to block ALL ads.

And for good reason. Blocking ads has many advantages for both the user and their respective device, including:

  • It gets rid of annoying banners, pop-ups, videos that start playing (with sound, no less) automatically – no more over-crowded pages, no more scrambling to find the almost invisible close button on a pop-up, no more frantically searching for the tab that’s playing a video

  • It allows you to focus – usually, there’s a specific reason why you’re visiting a webpage and it’s (almost) never the ads. Whether you’re there for an article, a photo, an infographic etc, blocking ads lets you actually enjoy it

  • It decreases page-loading time – no more endlessly waiting for a page to load because it’s bloated with images, videos, and sounds nobody wants to see/hear

  • It saves computing resources – CPU usage, live memory, bandwidth

  • It protects you from online behaviour profiling – the ads that websites serve you are based on your browsing behaviour, your Google searches and so on; blocking ads means you won’t click on any ads either, so you’ll no longer be feeding info about yourself to advertisers.

What’s not to like? It’s exactly for these reasons that CyberGhost 5.5 now has a built-in ad blocker that blocks all ads on all browsers and in all apps (so you no longer need to download an ad blocker for Chrome, one for IE, one for Mozilla etc).

Our ad-blocker is a Premium feature, so in order to take advantage of it (and all other new & very cool features), you need to buy CyberGhost Premium or Premium Plus.

It’s totally worth it, trust us!
