Timothy Gledhill (pictured left and right), 40, wept in court when he was told a judge would not be overturning the conviction

During the appeal he was asked if the water had struck Catherine Weir in the attack and Gledhill told the judge and two magistrates that it was a question of probability.

He said he had fired the water pistol and could not rule out that water had not accidentally hit her, but added: 'I haven't done anything wrong.'

Canterbury Crown Court was played a recording of the incident, which happened on a bridge in Canterbury, made by Ms Weir in which she was heard to shout: 'Stop it, stop it. Stop shooting at me.'

Gledhill told the appeal panel: 'She was just trying to get me into trouble. It isn't illegal to hold a water pistol. It's just a toy.'

Judge Nigel Van Der Bijl and the magistrates dismissed the appeal saying they could not accept Gledhill's version of events.

The judge said: 'What you did wasn't funny. It was done to humiliate your former partner.

'You thought you were being clever in covering your tracks. But she was a victim of an assault and there is no doubt about it.

'You knew perfectly well what you were doing. You did it to in some way humiliate her and to put one over on her.'

Gledhill voluntarily left Canterbury College in February and took up a post at Canterbury Academy.

He spent a significant amount trying to clear his name and failed - but the teacher has had the full support of his new school.

Head teacher Phil Karnavas said Gledhill has spent several thousands of pounds trying to clear his name.

He said: 'It has left most of us somewhat surprised that A, it got that far and B, we've ended where we have.

The end of the world can't come soon enough. These are the same people that strip search 11 year old girls for aspirin and scream "ZERO TOLERANCE DRUG POLICY!"

Yeah that's right. funny thing is, some people in the west try to fool themselves so they boast about their unrealistic freedom.

P.S: this poor guy, they searched through thousands of his pics and found one of them that he looked like rapists in. if he was to show up in a news article about something good he did then the chosen pics would be the ones he looked like professors in.

one of the old methods they use to make people think the way they want

I started petition to reinstate death penalty for using water guns (pistols, balloons, garden hoses included)

To electrocute all wet lawyers, judges and victims.

:D

Andrey, you are so right, telling that freedom is just an illusion. Because you live in a ex-comunist country(as Romania was too), you will understand me so well...

Before 1989, all Romanian thought that freedom means to travel free, to watch TVs channels like MTV, CNN etc, to speak free your personal opinion, and the wish list continue...

Now, we are free to travel all over the world... but just very few of us we have money to go out of the borders. We have near 100 TVs channels, one dumber than the others, full with useless talk-shows, stupid telenovelas etc. We are also free to speak, but nobody listen us.

Dear nsane members, you also have the freedom to not take my words seriously! :tehe:

Dinu it's not about a communism/capitalism or western/eastern differences .Any person of any country can't be free indeed coz state (any) is a freedom's suppression mechanism imo. U as a lawyer should 2 know it much better than me. ;)

I work in criminal law, where the state represent the good guys - the punishment mechanism against the bad guys - my clients, who forgot that freedom doesn't mean to steal, to rape, or to kill.

But, I agree with you that in other law branches(financial, administrative, family protection) the state is a freedom suppression mechanism.
