rerigam
I bought a Microsoft wireless display adapter. I connected to my HDTV, selected source HDMI1 and the Microsoft logo appear on TV screen. On the PC side Notification Center - Connect but no device found.I have Windows 10 Pro, all drivers are up to date. How can I check if my PC supports Miracast technology? It is a built PC (MB Asus H97 Pro Gamer, CPU Intel core I7 4790K, Nvidia GeForce GT 610).Thanks for helpIs miracast a software or hardware matter? and, if hardware, which component (MB, CPU, Graphic card, ecc.)? HX1
I have noticed on my Laptop a weird issue... First unplug any other screens ( except your main one ) from the system and reboot. Then after your system is up.. nd loaded fully.. hit Win+P or one of the buttons on your system that is for projecting to another screen. It will ask you if you want to extend or w/e.. I would go with duplicate. Now two issues may contribute... Your screen resolution may be very high.. if so a lower resolution may help you connect. For example if you have already been projecting to another screen and the resolution is set at 1920 x 1080 while your other regular screen is at 1366 x 768 you will want to change that from 1920 to a lower one first.. At the bottom of the Win+P there is a 'Connect to a Wireless display link.. click on that.. and ( before hand make sure your MWDA is on and ready ) and wait to see if your device shows up in the list. You should see it and be able to connect. If your MWDA says connecting at first.. it maybe installing the driver for it. so you may have to wait a little longer for it. This should install and connect this way. The other way would be to go to Setting>Devices>Add a Device... and see if it shows the device in the list.. you can add it there too and then you can use Win+P to change the projection mode. All of this is taking into account that you have installed Windows 10 verified drivers for your wireless card on your system and for your video card ( which I cannot find anything out on except that it seems to be built for Windows 7 ) I could not find any Miracast information at the main site... Your Wireless has to be up to date and support Miracast as well. My Tablets and Phone were much more stable for connection to mine.. much easier to deal with.. my Laptop seems to be picky sometimes about it... I can HDMI ti 1080p and 1920 x 1080.. but when I miracast with the laptop.. it will not allow me to go above 1366 x 768.. and it didn't seem to be as clear.. It may have been because I had only just initially connected and installed.. but you get the point.

HX1
Double check that your WiFi is turned on and you are within 20 feet without interference from many other device in the same area.. I would check settings for your wireless card... in the Advanced Tab.. The device should show up with sort of a strange name.. I connected to mine and changed it and cannot remember what it says but it has a strange device name... Also go into Device Manager and go to View and Show Hidden Devices.. Next you need to see if you can find your adapter anywhere in the list.. and uninstall it.. then try connecting again. If it does let if finish doing what it is doing... You can also rest the MWDA by holding down the button on the back before all of this to see if it helps... Do you have any other Miracast capable devices to double heck the MWDA with? I solved the problem, it was the graphic device (Nvidia GT 610) that did not support Miracast. Now, with intel hd graphics 4600, i can mirror my screen but ... no audio on TV. HX1
Audio can be fixed a couple of ways.. one is by going to the Volume Icon in the tray while you are mirroring.. Right-click and look at Playback Devices.. see if your TV is listed.. If it shows a device that looks like a TV and it is not playing or showing audio.. then you need to mark it as a default device... You can also go in and change this if you want to miracast to your TV and use the headphone jack instead with your headphones.. ( like late at night.. ( of course Bluetooth would be better .. ) This could fix your issue... there can be a few others as well.. May want to check your TV audio settings as well.. Passhrough options.. audio TV versus aux.. so on.. TV's are all different a couple I have seen have to be changed to get them to work right.. HX1
This is caused because there is already a default device selected.. You may have to play with changing the settings for default on other devices.. when you do set it, you need to be connected to the TV..

HX1
Okay go to Device Manager and look for Intel WiDi Device, and Intel Display Audio under the Sound, video, and game controllers section.. ( be sure to look for or show hidden devices in 'View' first.. You will also look for related entries in the very first one for Audio inputs and output... You also need to make sure that SPDIF Interface is listed here... Make sure your drivers are up to date for these.. and if they are not showing up, you may need to install the driver package from intel for your card... The only one which showed greyed out when I right-clicked on it was the ones which were already set as default. The latest drivers for your device state 15.40..15.36 for windows 8.1... Also if you changed your video card at any point make sure you uninstall any driver that was in your system before.. and then reinstall your current ones..and reboot after just in case... I did some searches and have only found a handful of people who had the same issue but both threads I found online were not resolved.. both were listed previous to Windows 10 release... Has it ever shown sound going through the TV Playback device? .. and did you try to test the device by right-clicking.. what was the result? Another test would be to see if your TV will play sound when hooked in via HDMI... EDIT: I hooked into mine just now with the laptop and I have the same result.. BUT I have been using my Headphone jack to send my sound directly to a stereo.. My Tablets do it all wirelessly.. ( Lumia 2520's ) They work well with.. My test however shows sound indicators for both, yet when I test them.. I get no sound output.. ( Windows 10, Intel HD Graphic, MWDA.. ) EDIT2: The headphones work.. they were muted for some reason.. :P EDIT3: I actually am hearing audio on mine but it is very faint.. and should be louder but for some reason is not.. I would also try those other two outputs on yours, it could be a little different setup than mine. I only have that on the recording side when I am connected. EDIT4: After I set the TV as the default device... I actually got a BSOD, related I don't know but after the reboot, with it selected as default it started working.. rerigam
Hi HX1, this is my device manager window:All drivers are up to date. When i right click on the screen device in audio panel and select test, a green bar show it is playing but no sound againUnfortunately i can not test with the HDMI cable because my desktop is too far from TVI suppose the problem is that i can not set TV as default device ... why??? .... boh!!!!Anyway thanks for your help
HX1
It wasn't easy to get mine to work, if you can test it and it shows that sound is going through it then there is a way to make it work.. On my tablets when I switched it was as simple as selecting the device to use.. On the laptop... it was more difficult..even after it was working I had to reboot and then connect to get the sound to run out to the MWDA.. probably in running the drivers for it. I read and searched this and it wound up being from HP BUT it may help you with yours.. it is about changing the sound configuration in the BIOS and has to do with not being able to change the sound output.. read Step 9... http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-Slimline-s5000-Desktop-PC-series/4079861/model/4185034/document/c01884922 Supposedly if you have the jacks in the back of an HP it has onboard audio.. if it doesn't then it has a sound card... If the onboard is enabled or set in the BIOS the system will not allow you to change the settings from it to something else.. This could be the case as well... You should also turn on RealTEK's multistreaming option from the Control Panel applet.. it is called DTS or something, I think it is the last page.. Then reboot... check the BIOS... go rom there... We will be making this work.. one way or the other ( the other being running out from the speakers or headphones to RCA left and right .. into a stereo or surround sound system.. and faking SuperSurround.. :P ) Haven't come this far to fail.. :)
rerigam
I have onboard audio and the option is enabled in BIOS.Could you be more detailed about Realtek multistreaming option?
HX1
It is an option that comes with the drivers installed for RealTek HD.. it will basically allow you to choose the output device.. for example you can listen to Windows media player on headphones and listen to Winamp on your speakers... this basically allows you to choose the output device in the program versus only using the default devce.. ( which when not available falls back to other devices.. which are connected or selected ) an example.. is here http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/multistreamingplaybackforrealtek_v3.pdf ...but the appearance is older.. same effect however in the end.. That onboard setting should be disabled... This should allow you to choose the device...
rerigam
Disabled on board setting in BIOS.
