Batu69
Nynex, based in Germany, have developed an acceleration and security tool to speed up browsing activities for customers using satellite communications. The tool comprises a software "add-on" for Chrome and Firefox web browsers. The tool is primarily optimized for use on PCs in LAN networks connected via satellite modem to the internet, but it may be helpful for terrestrial connections as well.A. Reducing DataThe nynex skyZIP browser extension is reducing the satellite data usage by using our proxy servers to optimize webpages and . ata savings are at about 50%Most web-sites are not speed-optimized – but with skyZIP images are transcoded to the WebP lossless format which is resulting in 80% smaller images.Content compression – deleting of unnecessary information in HTML, Javascript and CSS resources which are not essential combined with gzip compression - is resulting in bandwidth savings for the users and operator. The use of an optimized protocol which is also the basis for HTTP/2.0 is in use between your browser and our SKYzip proxy server farm.B. Accelerating RequestsSkyZIP is multiplexing a number of requests and response streams in parallel over a single TCP connection which is reducing TCP handshake overhead. Additionally it is providing higher throughput by removing the TCP slow-start phase.Over all skyZIP increases the loading speed of webpages on already TCP accelerated environments around 100% - on non TCP accelerated systems up to 1000%.Secure connections (HTTPS) are routed from your browser to the destination by saving one roundtrip per DNS request.DNS lookups are performed by our proxy servers, no need for your browser to wait for responses– this is also reducing the cpu load on the modem.C. Securing & Encrypting BrowsingHarmful webpages are blocked automatically in our datacenter – this will safe bandwidth, increase the speed as well and will keep your computer away from phishing web-sites.As satellite data can be physically received all over the footprint, encryption is the only possibility to secure communication from the remote to the hub:By using the skyZIP browser add-on all web browsing traffic will be encrypted by using TLS 1.2 up to the NYNEX datacenter - even for unencrypted web-sites.Homepage: https://www.skyzip.de/SkyZip is available as a browser add-on for firefox and chrome:Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/skyzip-firefox/Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/skyzip-proxy/hbgknjagaclofapkgkeapamhmglnbphi
