*update

apparently this was a world wide issue for "

Windows 10 Security update KB3087040 error 0x80004005"

my windows 10 update doesn't seem to be working.

a few apps i suspect causing this are either

1. ccleaner registry cleaner

2. o&o shutup10

3. adwcleaner

not sure which but the culprit is definitely 1 of these 3.

my situation is similar to this one

Anyway know of a fix for this?

i tried this

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10240]

© 2015 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.
C:\Windows\system32>

but i don't think it solved the issue.

Try the following repair first: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/7808-dism-repair-windows-10-image.html

Then sfc /scannow

thx for a possible solution, but i managed to update manually.

i think this may just be an isolated incident for this one patch only, seeing as many others are experiencing this as well at the same time.

if any future patches still having update issues, then yes i will refer back to your method. cause i don't see any other possible diagnostic steps to fix.

sure theres a windows reset, but that would involve reinstalling all apps, which is a worse case scenario, and even then maybe it wouldn't solve the issue xd.

This is so funny!

Tried to manually download the update using Edge and Edge just closes! Haha

Download worked with chrome although ** VERY ** slow download

I don't understand Microsoft: what's the point of re-discovering the wheel?
