Shadow Defender Issue - Question

Recommended Posts

I have been using SD and sometimes upon exiting Shadow Mode with a reboot the system will hang on the "Windows is shutting down" prompt. The HDD light just keeps going and going but even after a 10 min wait the damn thing will still say "Windows is shutting down" with no progress. When this happens a hard reset is needed. I wont ask what may be the cause of this as I know it could be many things or even a combination of things. I will try in the future to narrow it down to find the culprit(s). What I would like to ask however is a 2 part question:>> Does anyone know if SD leaves files "orphaned" on your HDD in the scenario I described above? If so where would they be located so I can delete them? Thank You.

Open the registry and locate the key{ \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management}, then change the value of ClearPageFile at Shutdown to a 0 IF the value is 1. If the value is 1, it will take longer for your computer to shutdown. Also do this : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\
Highlight the value WaitToKillServiceTimeout
Change this value to 1000.

If this doesn't help you can always change them back.

This can also be caused by a service that is not shutting down properly.

I am running SD on Windows 7 and 8.1 both x64 and have not experienced any problems at all.
