smallhagrid
So lately there's all this chatter & furious concern over w10 spying on folks - and along with it there is of course mention of how 8 & 8.1 have also done it...no surprises here. But:I had not heard of 7 spying before, this DID surprise me.Assuming this is so - what do folks do to defeat this wonderful 'function' ??I would love to know what tools & tricks are used to create some privacy from the spying of the mothership.Thanks. smallhagrid
Yessir - I am already a very happy Linux user, thank you.I still would like to know how folks are dealing with this problem, especially as 7 is so popular with many folks who say it is 'the best windows ever'.I, personally, think that win2k pro was the best & most reliable one ever, with XP as a close 2nd once it is de-crapified;What little exposure as I've had to 7 did not impress me at all - but I remain curious to see if it can be made better. spudboy
C'mon now. Linux is a steaming pile of turd. Win 7 & 8/8.1... simply uninstall the offending updates, hide them from future updates, disable automatic updates, and for the love of God READ the update information before you just blindly install every update that comes along. smallhagrid
You are certainly entitled to your opinions:C'mon now. Linux is a steaming pile of turd. smallhagrid
Thank you Knowlegge:were do i start i have edited things and blocked things and use tools to help blocked things from spying on me Shall I presume that the titles which aim at (vista) 10 are just as related to (vista) 7 ??Yep - after XP it is ALL vista - that makes 100% sense to me.I am just loving the info that Steven36 posted here:http://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/251516-recycled-old-news-about-vista-10-stressing-that-not-only-10ae-is-spyware-but-all-of-windows-is/

You asked "what do folks do to defeat this wonderful 'function' ??" and I gave you the answer. How was it totally unrelated & unhelpful? I think you're confused. Thank you. Goodnight. smallhagrid
Thanks Very Much Tezza:@smallhagridIf your talking about Win7 specifically, i would start herehttp://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/64561-Remove-Telemetry-and-Windows-10-Related-Updates-from-Windows-7I somehow missed that thread at MDL, and though it is quite lengthy, even just the 2nd posting with the script to adjust things makes it very worthwhile. So now I wonder what else one must do to clean up an installation of 7 ??Steven36 seems to have a very good handle on this stuff and I hope he will also share his knowledge with us all here...? smallhagrid
There was another thread here someplace with the script for fixing this stuff...but:I'm too lazy to get into 7 given that XP runs so well as a VM under Linux and does all that I need that OS at all for anymore.Besides that - anything too new for XP is easily covered by an equivalent Linux app, so this all makes me think 'why bother ??'.
