Registry Tweak Tool - Uninstall Telemetry And Related Packages

zavana

Recommended Posts

There are numerous Win10 anti-spy apps but I prefer to use this useful tool. Its does the actual uninstall of packages then other apps just disable/blocking the services
Plus having the advantage to uninstall(offline) the Telemetry and related spy packages from the .iso first before clean install the OS so M$ had nothing much to begin spying with ;)
Can also use it uninstall(online) the packages on your current OS.

Meaning? JFI = Just for infomation? Anything important I missed out?

No doubt Win 10 S-M-R-T Enable Disable v0.07.77 is another useful program, with similiar functions like install_wim_tweak, plus extra features & code by intelligent people. Likely it deserve a thread of it own here.

Again I don't get the meaning of your copy&paste here hotlinking to another well-known site that most of IT interest people know about.

Edit. Seen your recent postings, just another troll..

Ain't a way i know.. re-install OS or use a replacement.

Note: Above uninstall method is irreversible

That's all, use the new install.wim for your .iso.

Hello,

I made a few attempts and at each time, I get a trouble with the offline mode. At the end, the installation is cancelled because one file (or the iso) seem's to be damaged. The message error is very short, it doesn't have details... something specific like the filename (etc). I assume, it's probably the file damaged.

Then can you tell me more about this part from the tutorial ? Did I miss something ? There's some kind of process to follow ?

There's a difference between Windows 8(.1) and 10 ? One software like UltraIso isn't adequate ?

At the contrary, the online mode seem's to work fine.

Thank you and just to be sure, by Rufus you referring to this software, right ?

ATM I still have a trouble and I don't really understand... The behavior isn't the same (between the both Windows). I was able to perform the installation with Windows 10. I didn't saw any message error, that's strange... Do I need another tool like the Windows ADK (dism etc) ?

Maybe the commit didn't work after all ? As you can see, I get 1819 packages with my iso of Windows 10. That's the original number, if I'm right it should be now 1817, no ? And yes, I did the remount (twice).

Yep that Rufus sorry for not clearer & your installation is successful and without error is strange? hrmmm.. ..

On Win 7,8,10 host dont requires ADK setup for this operation.

Sometimes after uninstalling hundred over packages, after commit on recheck i too get non-tally results (Maybe because this tool was created for Win 7) nevertheless the removed components do not exist on new OS

From your pic you should not have OneDrive at taskbar and explorer left panel after install Windows or do an "Online Unhide" with Registry Tweak Tool again check if removed packages still exists.

Run Dism cleanup to clear previous offline servicing pending operations

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello,

first of all, sorry for the delay. It's require a long time to proceed but finally, I was able to understand and to figure out the cause. Also, sometimes I met a trouble with the nsane website...

No problem and thank you, the installation of Windows 8.1 seems to work fine now. In fact, I assume the software isn't totally reliable. Sometimes, with the offline mode, the uninstallation of one package (Store, MediaViewer) fail. So I was right, the number should decrease even if none error was reported. The software is probably not design for such case.

dism /image:E:\IMG /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
E:\install_wim_tweak.exe /p E:\MountWim /l

To avoid a failure, these commands could be very useful. The first one will check the presence of any damage. And the second, it's just a confirmation. With a damage, the number won't decrease. You can try with several packages but it will be (stay) the same. Once it's broken, I guess, you don't have another choice.
Then in this case, you should restart from scratch and check each package until you found the one. Use the full PackageNames (no shorcut) when you met a trouble.

Dism /unmount-wim /mountdir:E:\IMG /discard

Don't forget to replace commit by discard. This way you will avoid to repeat each steps.

I stoppped using this tool, currently using only Dism for such tasks. Dism method 100% accuracy but more tedious due to registry permissions.

I understand, I'm not very familiar with this one. So could you please (at least) provide one example ? I would rather to use dism (a native tool). Unless it's too complicate ?

And do you have a guide about the package ? Sometimes it isn't obvious and specially when you have just the fullname... With some packages, it seem's easy as the Windows Defender or Flash (etc). Just to be clear, the question is : how to determine the purpose of each package without a documentation or the knowledge ?

Not complicated, just more steps to do with Dism and there's 3rd-party tools which simplified the process. Some think Dism too hassle and it's likely gain no interests here @nsane,, maybe only you lol Personally for me Dism is most reliable..

And do you have a guide about the package ?

No, might post over the weekends if free..

Look up @ M$ Technet library, if unclear just leave it..

More steps, It doesn't bother me. I rather to avoid another 3rd-party tools even if it could simplified the process. After all, the Registry Tweak Tool isn't entirely reliable. I didn't mention everything about; ATM I didn't see the point.

Yeah maybe I'm the only one like sometimes lol

And yes, sorry it's unclear. Take your time, there's absolutely none problem, I understand totally.
