Windows 10 Version Selection Using MS Tool

Microsoft has created a tool to download versions of Windows 10,as we all know, and you can save as an .iso and make yourself install media whether DVD or USB drive. I have googled and have not found the answer to the following question I have. I have 3 desktop computers in my house and all were eligible for Windows 10 upgrades. I did them all from within Windows. 2 computers have Win 10 Home and the third has Pro. When I create the required media do I want Windows 10 Home SL or regular Windows Home download? For the Pro my only selection is Pro. I know the one that is SL means Single Language but could I use either one on an OEM computer...meaning Dells and HP's? Thanks.

First check, what variant of Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 8.1 was installed on your PC/Laptop. If it was, Windows 8.1 Core Single Language OEM:DM, then you would need to download Windows 10 SL. As you said, you've upgraded within Windows, what do you mean by it, have you upgraded using Windows Update, or Media Creation Tool? Because, WU won't allow you creating an ISO, but the MCT lets you create a bootable DVD/USB depending on your choice of "Windows 10 Home / Windows 10 Home N / Windows 10 Home SL / Windows 10 Pro". With MCT, you might already have the right ISO created for your Win7/8/8.1 computers for further installation.

In case of WU, you can download Windows 10 SL for your previous Single Language Win OS. The multiple edition, Windows 10 ISO available here don't allow you selecting Win edition out of the box. I think some files need editing to enable editions selection.

I updated all machines thru WU. My question is when I want to reinstall Windows(Clean) and use the .iso's from the tool....would both the Home and the SL Home both work on these OEM machines?

My advise for OEM installations... I find this to work the best.. First get your data out and backed-up.. next go to the sites and check for which drivers you may possibly need and download them for installation later.. You may not need them but it is good to have them on hand and offline. Get to know your processor and chipsets.. hardware..

Next your going to have to go in delete all partitions and data on your drives... This is going to destroy your Windows installations and ALL OEM junk and bloatware... install fresh after making necessary BIOS changes such as secure boot and so on... It usually always removes blocks and security put into place which will not allow installations and updates to the OS.. We bought the hardware.. Screw the support.. and the warranty.. I had rather have something I can use how I want. IMHO.

This essentially turns the systems into a Signature PC with only Windows in which you have microsoft drivers for hardware which should download and update normally afterwards.. Some will have a few devices which will need to be installed manually such as TPM and a few others but are none such problem if you stay with manufacture drivers ( not OEM but Hardware ).. on some cases you may have to use OEM but only as needed as some are mostly out of date and some left behind in an effort IMO to get you to continue to upgrade computers... as far as support and smooth function. Always make sure these are updated.. and if you run across incompatibilities you can roll back and stick with version which better suit your system..

My system is more enjoyable and glitch free afterwards and seems to have bottlenecks eliminated.. no extra services running and more efficient on resources.. I also had rather see Windows Boot logo than a three stages BS logo and crapware in the way each time I boot.. :P

JMPO.. :)

I have been doing what you say for 17 years..But the question was......What installers do I want to download from the Microsoft Tool? The only OEM Option for OEM is Windows 10 Home SL.....This is fine but I have an OEM Pro version as well??? Does that download give you both options?
