Toshiro
Hi guys, Let's go straight to the point. I want to check + repair my HDD (chkdsc = unusefull..) cuz I just got a BSOD with the code:STOP:0x0000008E (0XC0000005, 0X95338821, 0XCBA72C14, 0X00000000) Google can't find anything with this code >< I checked the logs, Nothing interesting to find there.. Only that I had to check \Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1. with Checkdcs.. Chkdsc didn't find anything wrong :sSo, can you guys recommend me a HDD check+repair software? Nsane doesn't has one (or I'm blind :P) Cheers,Edit:Hardly Software News related this topic - so it has been moved.jalaffaYea, my bad. The Geek Squad
the bsod 0x8e is either a BAD RAM or DRIVERS or Add-in Card...To begin with start ur computer by just 1 RAM chip... and if you have a video card -- remove it..Try doing a system restore if computer boots in safe mode.. or in case of Vista/7, boot the os DVD and run repair wizard -- select system restore

dumble
Did you perform a memtest? If you get errors it means your intern memory card is broken, if you have more than 1 card you have to test them sepertaly to see if both cards are broken..Download: http://www.memtest.org/#downisoJust run it from a floppy, usb or CD and check for errors, if you find errors it means your memory card is broken and you go to the shop and buy new one..
