How to pull/obtain paid APK that I have already bought onto 'incompatible' tablet

I have a paid app that works fine on my unrooted phone and updates from the Play store but I want to put it on my unrooted tablet as well but it will not show up for me to DL. My guess would be because the tablet doesn't have GPS. The phone and tablet are both on Android KitKat. I was able to get older APK from my old rooted phone and that worked fine on the tablet but now the old phone will not connect to the Play Store to get the updated version. That phone is on Gingerbread so no telling why it won't connect to play store. Any idea on how to get paid APK that I paid for?
