knet2020
This post should be read with http://nsaneforums.com/topic/233833-directory-opus-1113-build-5563-mar-2015/page-5?do=findComment&comment=942548 in order to explain the background.I recently updated Comodo IS to version 8.2.0.4591 which seems to have performed some behind the scence changes:I had removed GPSoftware from 'Trusted Vendors' (previous version 8.1.0.4426) it seems 8.2.0.4591 has reenabled itComodo 8.2.0.4591 has set it's self up to 'Allow Anonymous Usage Statistics' despite a previous setting denying this behaviourDefaulted to switching on the HIPS Virtual Sandbox for ALL apps and in the sandbox Apps can autostart services etcWebsite filtering has also been re-enabledProgram updates are set to 'Automatic' and 'Download and Install Automatically' with update checks every 6 hoursSo in essence Comodo is using Default settings on Upgrades that I didn't explicitly consent to, and setting services switched on that I have also not consented to either. This is obviously marketed as 'Enhanced Protections for Customers' despite (ME) not wanting them or setting them.I have 1 more machine which I suspected was running a few editions earlier of Comodo which I have just checked and to my dismay this copy has Auto Updated (I never leave apps to auto update) to 8.2.0.4591 so I have set things back and will from this point not be updating Comodo Internet Security any more.We are in the age of companies seemingly feeling they have automatic rights to over ride or no need to even seek consent to make changes like this (wether the program is paid or free). All done whilst 'Protecting us' from the Hackers/Script Kiddies and Identity thieves.I would argue we have more to fear from Companies (in collusion with Governments) displaying this kind of behaviour than any aformentioned 'Hackers etc'May be worth your time to check your own settings in Comodo and consider alternatives
Ballistic Gelatin
I have had no such problems with CIS v8.2.0.4591.I rechecked all of my settings and did not find any that were modified by this update. Before updating CIS, I always export my custom configuration settings, then re-import them back into CIS following an update. If you did not save your custom configuration settings from a previous installation, it's possible that CIS applied the default settings on your installation that are inherent with the latest update. That's why it's important to occasionally back up your custom settings in case you need to re-import them later. You may want to subscribe to some of the Comodo forum threads on Build 4591 if you haven't already.
