How to Get the Windows 10 Upgrade icon if missing

One of my laptops would never show the upgrade icon to allow me to reserve my upgrade. In searching I ran across the following webpage

http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-get-the-windows-10-upgrade-icon-if-its-missing/

It points you to a download on dropbox, extract the batch file, run as administrator, select 1 to verify the both required updates are on your system, then select 2 (which worked in my case) and the icon appeared and I reserved my upgrade and verified it.

There are other options if the number 2 doesn't work, but so far everyone I have talked to had that work for them.

Just make sure that you have ALL THE UPDATES from Windows UPDATE for your system. Again I say ALL the Windows UPDATES.

I can assure you, that this script does not help anyone or anything. If the icon does not visible, then the cause is something else. And yet. It is interesting, that this problem has been discussed at earlier in this forum and also this script is published, but still finds someone again, who think, that he's the best or at least much better than all previous and all others.
Why to duplicate everything, what is already published.

Kalju,

I have had the icon on my taskbar. Also, I made the ”reserved”. Then, I disabled the icon notification from taskbar, via Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Task Scheduler/Task Scheduler Library/Microsoft/Windows/Setup/gwx -> disable launchtrayprocess & refreshgwxconfig.

Few days latter I reinstalled Windows(with disk formating). The icon notification won't appeared. Checking in Task Scheduler, both launchtrayprocess & refreshgwxconfig were enabled. But no icon notification on taskbar. Done a sfc /scannow. Nothing corrupt. Done a chkdsk /f. No problems.

Today, I used ”win10fix_full.bat”. The icon notification reappeared.

None of those options are able to bypass my security - I am using Method # 5 (post # 39.) :)

The bottom line of that trick is even if you got the taksbar white icon, your computer may be not eligible to receive Windows 10 for some reason.

- Hardware Incompatibility.

- Windows activated with Kms or Loader for 7. .. etc

- MS will allow installation (or not), but the OS remain not legit and not activated.
